How much does it usually take for background check who had ex military mandatory service?

I been under security verifications since August 2016 ..an applicant since 26 November 2015 ..i have no bad history and my military service wasn't in a war or anything..i was more like a guard ..but how long does it usually take for background checks with ex military applicants?
If you have a military background your BGC will take considerable longer and will depend which country you served in, how long ago was your service, at what all positions you were in, what are you skills in military and a lot of other factors. What the CSIS is trying to determine is that you won't come to Canada as a spy or for some ulterior motives. In your case its been long.

Have you ordered GCMS notes?

Dear legalfalcon, I'm seeking your valuable advice in my matter. My AOR was January 23, 2017. In my application I have mentioned 2 different work experiences under same company, first work experience is under NOC 6331 which was only for six months and my second work experience was under NOC 0631 which is more than one year. Besides this I have a valid job offer under NOC 0631 and my CRS is 950. For both of my work experinces I have submitted same reference letter which have complete information for NOC 0631 and states from this date till this I worked under NOC 6331. But it did not mention wage, hours, duties for NOC 6331. As I have enough points to be eligible for PR and I don't need points for NOC 6331 could it still be a problem that reference letter for NOC 6331 does not have required info. But the reference letters for NOC 0631 have complete info and are sufficient for points sake. But I didn't put any explanation for incomplete letter even though I don't need points for it. What do you think? Is there a risk of them returning my app?
If you do not want to claim points for your job, then you should have not mentioned it in your work history, just your personal history. However, if you have listed your job in NOC 6331, and the reference letter is incomplete, it will not create any problems. But just to be on the safer side I would advise you to send a CSE and clarify the position. Just mention that your employer was willing only to write the information you have and not the wages and other things. I don't see a major issue here.

Hope this helps!

Hi Legalfalcon,

I have a unique question for you

I've received ITA on Jan 11th.

However, my question is in the Express Entry profile I've by mistakenly put my IELTS reading as 7.5 where it was supposed to be 7.0. (But I didn't get any advantage on the points system as it is the same for 7.0 or 7.5)

So, my question now is should I decline this ITA and wait for a new one or should I go ahead with this app and submit a letter of explanation explaining my mistake?

I am not sure about your CRS score. If you are sure that 7.5 and 7.0 will not make a difference, you can go ahead and write a letter of explanation. But this will be tricky as you sign when you submit your form and claim that all the information is true and accurate. If the accessing officer is reasonable, he will cut you a slack and let your application go through.

If your CRS score is high enough, you should think about declining and making the correction or make a new profile. This will help you save time in the long run as if you go along with your current profile, and if an CIC agent is very particular and sits on your file for a month or more, you will be wasting valuable time.

Although, in the bigger scheme of things this is a very small mistake. You can chose either of the options above after weighing your specific situation, your CRS score and other factors.

Hope this helps!

Before my medical was passed on june and after requested the medical again,it changes in progress?SO when do i expect that medical status in my cic account shows passed? Is this the good sign to receive PPR?It is 8 months over now.
Thanks in Advance,

Hi legalfalcon,
Thank you so much for the reply. My CRS score is 465 and it remains the same as I've created another profile to see if I'm losing any points plus after I've received my ITA I also received a positive lmia for permanent residency. So my new score would be 515.

Hi legal falcon,

Thanks for this great thread you are responding on. i have some quick questions:

1) Do I need a PCC for my distance learning program? Both my ACCA and B.Sc are from UK but I haven't physically been in UK ever. Please advise so that I can request a PCC in due time. or shall I mention this in LOE saying I have never physically been in UK and this was distance learning degree? Don't want to risk rejection due to this.

2) I had started my ACCA in 2009 and cleared fundamental levels in June 2011 - professional exams took longer and completed in Jan 2015. However, I started working since Feb 2011 to June 2015 (NOC 1212) and then switched in June 2015 to present (NOC 1112)

I claimed 3 plus years of experience and got ITA but when I am filling the work experience, its asking me for Primary NOC where they can assess my application and the date I qualified to practice that.

In order not to lose points in post-ITA assessment, shall I make NOC 1212 as the base/primary NOC as that has lesser education requirement i.e not requiring Bachelors. That way, I can claim that June 2011, I had fundamental level of ACCA cleared allowing me to work in that skill level and claiming 3 years experience in NOC 1212. Later I can proof - NOC 1112 as having 1.5 years experience and completed my ACCA in Jan 2015 can support that.

Please suggest if that is the correct way?

3) Would it matter if I change my NOC Code in my e-APR where as my EE profile had 1112 as primary NOC? Do I need to update job bank accordingly as well then?

Thanks,
Sam

If your doctor has submitted the report to IRCC, there is nothing to worry about. Usually when the upfront medical is done, that is what IRCC asks to upload a scanned copy of the upfront medical. Any progress is good sign. What does your GCMS say? Is your BGC complete?

I understand that. The red tape is annoying. If you want to be really pro active about your application you can contact CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service), who conduct the BGC for immigration, you can contact them and find if they have sent the reports to IRCC. Information on how to get the status of your immigration screening is available here <https://www.csis.gc.ca/scrtscrnng/index-en.php#bm02>.

Some applicants have successfully done it and they were informed that CSIS sent their reports to IRCC a few months back and IRCC had been sitting on it for a while, which usually is the case. Apart from this sent an email to your LVO and find the status of your application.

This is all you can do at the moment. But, don't lose heart. Stay the course and soon you will hear some positive news.

There is no need for a PCC for a distance learning course. You only need PCC for countries where an individual has lived for a total of six months or more. <http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp>

2) I had started my ACCA in 2009 and cleared fundamental levels in June 2011 - professional exams took longer and completed in Jan 2015. However, I started working since Feb 2011 to June 2015 (NOC 1212) and then switched in June 2015 to present (NOC 1112)

These ar two different things. Your primary NOC is the profession that you do and would like to pursue. The work experience can be shown as a combination of different NOCs. <http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//resources/manuals/bulletins/2010/ob173.asp#tphp>. To answer the date when you were qualified to practice, you will have to write the date when you got the license or when the certificate was awarded.

Please suggest if that is the correct way?

3) Would it matter if I change my NOC Code in my e-APR where as my EE profile had 1112 as primary NOC? Do I need to update job bank accordingly as well then?
You can change your NOC code post ITA and give an LoE as to why you did that. All you have to remember is that your number of years of work experience should not change. It can increase, but not go down.

Thanks,
Sam

there is no specific answer how long it would take. But usually 2-3 weeks is the norm.

Again thanks for you much appreciated response
I am sorry if i am asking to much but just understand that better do you mean CBSA or CSiS? , because when the embassy of Canada emailed me they said my security verifications are conducted by CBSA ( Canada Boarder Services Agency) ..my other question what do you mean LVO ? ..i know from my GCMS notes that i am in the background check and all else seems fine and passed.

Again thanks alot for your help :)
