Hello Asivad,

I had a quick question for the BOWP application hoping you can answer. The application asks for a LOE. now does this LOE have to same as the one we used while submitting the PR? My work permit is expiring in May and am yet to hear on my Pr application. SO I am trying to apply for BOWP.

Not the same LoE. If you have anything to explain about the BOWP application, you can do so in this LoE.

Hello Asivad I got ITA but I have one question

Spouse employment history mentioned in personal history n work history, but not claiming any points only uploaded experience letter , are they going to verify anything on that?

Any chances for rejection due to spouse employment history?

Asivad n Seniors need your opinion

Thank you in advance

They will ignore it as it is irrelevant to your application if spouse work experience was outside Canada. Won't have any impact on this application, won't be a reason for rejection.

Hi Asivad,

Thanks a lot for mentoring so many forum members..

I am an feb 8th 2016 onip applicant...sent the docs n it reached onip office by march 3rd. I forgot to add my old passport copy and sent only my new passport copy which is less than 2 yrs old. Based on suggestions i was lucky enough to drop off a courier on march 23rd to onip office with only old passport copy along with LOE ( march 23rd is when my 45 days deadline ends ) also i did dropped an email to ontarionominee@ontario.ca on the same day explaining the situation along with scanned old passport copy, LOE, EE profile num etc... but i haven't heard anything back from them?? how long does it take for them to reply...

Any suggestion from you will be helpful...and let me know what would be next course of action...

Thanks

Hi Asivad,

One of my friend done Bachelor in Arts and Master in Arts but Canadian equivalency awarded is as below:

Bachelor in Arts: Bachelor Degree (Four years)
Master in Arts: One year of graduate study

My query is that, for checking the eligibility for Express entry (67/100) & everywhere else (anywhere in the EE profile)what we need to select for education:

Education Maximum 25 points

University degree at the Doctoral (PhD) level or equal 25 points
Two or more Canadian post-secondary degrees or diplomas or equal(at least one must be for a program of at least three years) 22 points
Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma for a program of three years or longer, 21 points
Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma for a two-year program, or equal 19 points
Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma for a one-year program, or equal 15 points
Canadian high school diploma, or equal 5 points

They can choose ' Two or more..... at least three years)'.
Thank you Asivad Sir.
His CRS will change on 28 April as its his birthday . Based on above, criteria of selecting "Two or more Canadian post-secondary degrees or diplomas or equal(at least one must be for a program of at least three years)" in education, what CRS he will get from below ? As of now, he has CRS of 120 for CRS - Human Capital - Level of Education section

Level of Education With a spouse or common-law partner Without a spouse or common-law partner

Less than secondary school (high school) 0 0
Secondary diploma (high school graduation) 28 30
One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute 84 90
Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute 91 98
Bachelor's degree OR a three or more year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute 112 120
Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years 119 128
Master's degree, OR professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession (For “professional degree,” the degree program must have been in: medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, optometry, law, chiropractic medicine, or pharmacy.) 126 135
Doctoral level university degree (Ph.D.) 140 150

Can he not get 128 as education CRS ? What is difference between " Bachelor's degree OR a three or more year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute " and "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years
" categories ?

They should get 128 points. Ask them to choose '2 or more..' option under Education history section for Canadian equivalency of their Masters degree, that should do it.

Hi Asivad,
I am planning to land by car through Maine/New Brunswick borders. Is there certain offices for new immigrants to deal with or we can use any border office for landing? Do we need to have appointment first?
Thank you.

Sorry sir for bothering you again and again.

His Canadian equivalency is :

Bachelor in Arts: Bachelor Degree (Four years) (as per WES report)
Master in Arts: One year of graduate study (as per WES report)

What to select for education ?

"Bachelor's degree OR a three or more year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute" or "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years "

Little confused ???

Search the forum for 'flagpole' or 'flagpoling' and you'll find lots of Do's and Don'ts on this subject. Try and follow them for a hassle free experience.

As per my understanding ,any study which is not given equivalent to degree/diploma or certificate by WES does not get any points. it was a case where a nursing diploma was given as 3 year study and awarded zero points .The topic was discussed in FSW 2014 .
Shall appreciate if a link is given where a study can be treated as second diploma.

Flagpoling is a 2 step process - Step 1 involves leaving Canada, going to US soil, getting an administrative refusal and coming back. Step 2 is the rest of it which will be the same for that person or you who is driving in to Canada from the US. Focus on Step 2.
