Hi Asivad or Seniors,
Thank you very much for your timely help as always. I have little doubt regarding background check process. Do they visit our Linkedin profile? I have seen since last week that someone viewed my profile in private 2-3 times. As I have not yet started applying for job, I am not expecting that any recruiter or employer may visit my profile in private. Btw, how exactly background check works? There are several theories and assumption coming up in various thread. I shall appreciate you could kindly share possible process followed by CIC during background checks.
Thanks again.
With best wishes.
They may choose to visit your LinkedIn profile as part of background verification. Background checks typically involves passive online and offline research to confirm or deny the authenticity and validity of all claims made as part of your application. If still in doubt, it can then move on to include active intervention. This may include establishing email, phone, in-person contact with the individual(s), organization(s), institution(s) mentioned in your application. Of course, IRCC will do this only if there are genuine doubts about any or all of these areas of your application. Finally, background check may also involve calling the applicant in for an interview at the LVO and ask them to bring along original documentation.

Get married anytime before you 'land' in Canada to activate your PR status. That way, your spouse will be added to your current application and they will receive PR status along with you. The process might take 4-8 weeks or longer. If you get married after you 'land' in Canada, you'll have to sponsor your spouse to Canada and that process can take 12 months or more.

Great! Thanks!
My partner had stayed in the US for 7-8 months in 2 visits so will that lead to FBI PCC at the point of adding her to my application?

And how easy/difficult is it to get PcC from the US while in India?
Also, will she need ECA by any chance?

Many thanks!

Apply for the PCC right away - it takes 12-16 weeks or longer no matter where you apply from. She wouldn't need an ECA for points but the ECA would come in handy if she is planning on working in Canada.

16 weeks of FBI
8 weeks of CIC to update spouse app.

1. this will cause delay of almost 6 months in my landing if I want her along, right? Or do you expect more?

2. In case, I choose sponsorship route, will that need similar FBI PCC? and will be 12-16 months from the day we submit documents, right?

I am little skeptical in delaying my entry, can we have a plan B-

3. she will be in the US from May-2016 can she make an entry to Canada from there and will that expedite the process by any chance?

Depends. But these are the broad timelines.

Yes. Can be longer than 16 months, depends on country of origin. Check IRCC site for latest timelines.

She can try applying from the US for any category of visa - that will be processed based on the merits of their application. Simply being in the US doesn't expedite the process.

That is a visa class for the US alone. Her success with getting a visa for Canada would entirely depend on her application to IRCC. Having or not having a US visa would probably have no impact on their Canadian visa application.

Sounds confusing to me, but I get it!!

Could you please suggest the most appropriate Visa category in this case? Thanks a lot for your time! I really appreciate it!

You can sponsor your spouse later. It can take 12 months or longer. You will have to be in Canada during that process.
