Dear Asivad Anac,

I have one more question and would be grateful to hear your thoughts. I have completed a Masters program and got my ECA for it. The program was two consecutive summers as opposed to a one continuous academic year. Since I did not live there for 6 consecutive months, my understanding is that I don't need a police certificate for the country of my masters degree. However, in my education history section, I have inserted the start and end times which caused the program look like it lasted for more than 12 consecutive months. Would this cause them to expect a PC? What would your suggestion be?

Hi Asivad need ur view again pls.
I have 4 years bachelor degree, a one year graduate diploma and one year post graduate diploma. So I claimed points for two or more certificates, diplomas and degrees. because CRS system only says one must be three or more year program.
But now while updating education history, in a help button by the side of education level it says to claim two or more certificates it should be either two bachelor degrees or one bachelor and a two year college diploma. My both diplomas are one year program. So, I am in dilemma now.
Please help. what I do now???

Also Asivad for ur information,
Both my one year diplomas are post bachelor.
As per WES, canadian equivalency for Graduate diploma is bachelors degree (four years). I dont know how they did that for my one year post bachelor diploma.
However, my post graduate diploma is equivalented as a one year graduate study.

my WES ECA summary is: two bachelors degree (four years) and one year of graduate study.

I dont understand how they awarded me two bachelors degree??

what should I select in level of education for each of my education history in e-APR.
Please suggest.

Hello Asivad,

I have a query regarding travelling after AOR. Can I travel to the US for a weekend, after I get my AOR? Will I have to update this to CIC if I did travel?
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dear Asivad,

I created a thread but could not get much replies so I was wondering if you could help with my questions.

1. The instructions for proof of work mention "annual salary plus benefits". Also what exactly is meant by benefits? What do the Canadian officers want to see in the employment reference letter in this regard? Is it OK if the employer writes "his annual salary plus benefits was X amount"

They want to know if it was paid work experience. Period. Perfectly alright if the employer writes that.

2. Do I need to provide an extra document showing what my employer paid to me? Like an offical list of Social Security payments list?

No. It can be included as supporting documentation if your reference letter is silent about salary.

3. I've had a work exchange. That means I was employed by a company, but sent to secondment to another country for a fixed term while my principal employer continued to pay my salary. I am planning to mention this in my letter of explanation. But I am not sure if I should also get a reference letter from the second company, because I was there like a visiting employee and I was not getting any salary. Also, should I mention this in my work history? I was thinking of mentioning it in my personal history but not work history.

Not required. This should go into your Personal history as it involved travel outside your country, not required in Work history.

Hi again

A likely scenario for me if I renew my passport now could be to get PPR while I still have my old passport (as it gets a while to get a new one). In order not to miss the deadline, I'd have to send in copies of the old one (visa exempt) and would get COPR for my old passport.
As a result, I would get a new passport after COPR but before landing, which I imagine would be an issue. Right? :-/
You will have to face delays - now or later. Better now than later.

PCC requests are triggered from Personal history section. If that is clean, no worries. You can also highlight this in the LOE.

Weird!

Their own site says that a 3 year Bachelors along with a 1 year PG certificate can be counted towards '2 or more...' option. Recommend that you ignore those messages and continue with application submission.

Check here for more ---> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

Based on this limited information, I imagine you can choose '2 or more...' option.

Can recommend better if you don't mind copy-pasting the contents of your ECA here.

You don't have to inform CIC about short trips after AOR. You only need to inform them and update your address if you're relocating to another country.

Yes. You've a valid work permit till May so there are no barriers to entry till then and no reason to inform CIC about any travel after AOR.

Thank you very very much, you are a guardian angel for many :)

One more minor question, if you don't mind. My wife's name is let's say "Anna Smith Jones". Again let's say my name is "Peter Anderson". She has never used my last name, but only in the marriage certificate, her name appears as "Anna Smith Jones Anderson". In all the other documents, she has her own name.

Now what do you think is the answer to the question "did you use a different name?'

Thank you. Just one last question, how long do you have to send your PP once you get PPR? I just want to make sure so that I know how long I can travel.

Thank a lot Asivad. I don't think people here can be thankful enough to you. Kudos!
