Hi All,

Firstly, a very Happy New Year to you and your family :)

I have one query. Currently, I am planning for my PR and preparing for IELTS exam. But I have been hearing from many people that IT jobs are very less in Canada.. it takes a lot of time and in some cases people don't get their desired job as well and end up working in unskilled jobs, not related to their field etc.

I would like to ask that is this scenario true? Are IT jobs, especially QA/Testing/Automation jobs are very less in Canada and those which exist are difficult to find/get? Do IT people have to do some courses in Canada before they find their level of job there..

I am in dilemma due to these questions. Please guide me.

IT jobs are all around, simple enough to get.

QA/Testing/Automation are scarce.... companies want people coding, and they want good coders...

Learn to code. That is your best chance.

Testing jobs are there in Canada but they look for a person with more development exp to do testing work, 100% skill set needs to be matched as per job requirement then only you get a chance to appear for interview :(

so a QA guy with previous dev exp has a good chance to work in testing rather than a purely testing guy..... this is my personal opinion and other may defer.

This is true.

In Canada meeting deadlines is more important than "high quality" so they prefer to invest little in testing and more in development. This has an impact on pure QA guys. Usually a QA guy is/was developer who moved to another area, but can be called in demand to coding if needed.

In our team QA is made by our Call center guys.... testing is easy (so they say) and can be done by virtually anyone.

Dear Boarders,

I had applied for SINP, and awaiting for the nomination, I too in dilemma after reading the threads.
I'm manual tester(NOC-2283), I understand after these posts getting tester jobs in Canada is very difficult unless you are from Dev background.

Thanks
