Temporary Travel Documents

Hi all, my wife (Chinese) and I are nearly done her PR Spouse sponsorship process. She will be landing in the next couple weeks (despite being here for 14 months already), with February coming, so is Chinese new year. We would like to go back to China to be with her family for the holiday. However, it is unlikely we will have the PR card in time for that. My question, is if anyone has obtained a temporary travel document from CIC to allow them to travel without their PR card. Was it fairly straight forward and easy? How long did it take to obtain?

Perhaps the solution would be to delay her landing until your return from China?

Landing Visa expiry is February 10, We would need to be in China for Feb 19th.

Generally it takes around one month time.
