Our (myself, mum and 3 siblings) TRV was denied 3 times between 2002-2004.
Reason: was under 179 lack of tight ties with our country Mozambique.

Fast forward, I'm now married, I have a job, husband runs a small business and we have 2 kids now in school. My aunt is inviting myself, hubby +kids to spend Christmas 2023 in Canada. I would like to try.

Questions:
1. Should I request for the GCMS notes from 2004 to see in detail where we can improve the new application?
2. What's the most important tie should we produce to avoid rejection this time?
3. Mum is dead, but my siblings are alive. Is it a must I state them as family ties here in Mozambique?
4. How best can we convince the VO we're coming back?

I appreciate all your inputs.

1. No. It was almost 20 years ago and you were most likely a minor.
2. Ties to country - job letter with approved leave, paid tuition, school registration, business registration, client contracts.
3. Family ties are your spouse and children. If you don’t have family ties then you don’t. Siblings are not ties to return.
4. See 2. Travel history to the US, UK, AUS and NZ and not overstaying says you abide by immigration rules.

You also need to show travel history and funds to support your visit. Bank accounts must be personal not business funds. You want to show that you can pay for your trip without spending all your savings. Your aunt can invite you but should not be supporting your visit.

Thank you very much.
Well, I did some of my studies in Europe between 2009-2012. I came to Mozambique. We've recently travelled to about 3 African countries and came back.
And if my aunt only wants to support the flights? We have assets, and will have +/- USD13,000 to spend within Canada. What are our chances?
Many thanks again for your input.

Cannot tell you your chances. Your travel history is weak. Having your aunt support you and pay for flights weakens profile too. Do not buy tickets unless approved Is that all your savings? For a family of 4 to come to Canada for even a few weeks that is not a lot of funds. All you can do is apply and find out what happens. Show a strong reason to return - job letter with approved leave, paid tuition, school registration, business contracts etc.

Is your aunt a citizen? How did she get her citizenship?

Hi - If you aren't wealthy then this expenditure will never make sense to the visa officer. If you're not funding the entire vacation and returning to very successful careers, business and property holdings then it simply won't add up.

If you are wealthy, have a nice vacation.

Thank you all for your inputs. Gives us an idea to not go ahead with the application blindly

Thanks for your reply. My aunt is a citizen, she went to Canada in the 90's through family sponsorship.
She'll write as the LOI, provide us with accommodation but we will support our own travel expenses, insurance etc.
We have now around CAD$42,000 to cover all these expenses and we will stay for 25 days. Are these funds enough? We have property assets, 4 vehicles, a home in Kenya and a home in Mozambique. Like I said we have a small business and we will produce the registration certs, and income tax returns. I'm employed and earn slightly more than a Canadian minimum salary. I'll submit the pay stubs from 6months ago. I'm just waiting for my leave days to be approved.
Our kids are still in kindergarten. How do we support their enrollment in school? Because it takes 179days to process a TRV from Mozambique. It will be end June when we submit our application, and the school enrollment process for 2024 is not out. We can only prove kids are in school but not enrolled as it's way too early.
Any suggestions? Thank you

How did your funds go up so quickly to $42K in your personal bank accounts?

And it would be from 1 account. We will now show 2 bank accounts.
So both accounts are your accounts. Your aunt is not considered your immediate or extended family so IRCC may not even look at her funds. Show your accounts to support a trip, not your aunt’s

Yes, these are our accounts here in Moz. Noted thanks we will show these.
Do you have any advise on how to go about the kids enrollment? Thanks once again for your time and input
