Dear Friends,

I am a teacher of COMPUTERS in bachelors degree level college in India. I have a PhD in Computers and a bachelors degree in electrical engineering, and a 1 year post graduate diploma in bioinformatics, all from India. I have 2 and 1/2 years research experience, and almost 6 years teaching experience in the domain of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT), all in India. I am comfortable teaching Software & Applications oriented subjects, and not hardware and system subjects in CSIT domain.

I would like to join as teacher for bachelor degree in computers, in Canada. I am fluent in English. I dont know French. But I can learn its basic in 3 months.

Please tell me what are my job prospects in terms of number/quantity and continuity in Canada. Would my salary and total weekly working hours be reasonable?

Eagerly awaiting your reply.

Hi
Unfortunately, Teachers, Lecturers etc are not included in the New Job list for Canadian Immigration. IT proffesionals are also not elligible to apply for Canadian Immigration....(if that is what you are asking).

The only way you can apply for Immigration is, if someone offers you a job in Canada and goes through with you the immigration process.....To find a job in Teaching in Canada and is not an easy task, probably not possible, while you are not Permanent Resident...Even if you have a PR, finding a job is an Uphill task.

Anyways, go through this for some idea of the process:

First go to this site and see if your Job is given in the List, if not you are not elligible to apply as Federal Skilled worker. But can only apply if you have a Job offer from Canada:
www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp

IF your Job is in the List, then check the below website and see if you have performed 80% of the given duties of that particular Job, enter the code you picked from the above List (that represents your job) and enter in the search:
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Welcome.aspx

IF you are elligible, then Download and read this guide:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

Then take a Test to see if you make the 67 Points:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/Education.asp

Then see the Check List for Documents:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf

This will give you a detailed and clear view of where you stand and what to arrange for.
