Hi,

My family is going to reside in Alberta whereas I ll continue my current job for sometime.

As my current income is less than minimum taxable income in Alberta( 41,400$) so do I need to pay tax on it ,if yes how much will be the provincial tax and how much will be the Federal Tax.

I would like to add that I m working in a tax free country.

Thanks

$41,544 is the upper ceiling of the 25% tax rate in Alberta. You will be paying tax. The actual amount depends on whether you have a spouse and children, and what income they have.

Please research thoroughly on the web. Sometimes you have to pay a Surtax, as well. I have heard of people being shocked with their assessments.

Unfortunately cra taxes the worlwide income to that results in double taxation. That is not fair.

You didn't provide enough information to get an answer. If you don't reside in Alberta yet, and are considered a non-resident of Canada (for tax purposes), then you may not have to file a Canadian tax return. First step, take a read of this and look at the criteria: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/nnrsdnts/ndvdls/nnrs-eng.html

Hi, I am new at this site and would like to check if you could shed some light on my queries.
I am working in the Middle East and my application for my permanent residence is under process (status: DM). My husband already informed of his change in status, i.e. from widower to married, and he received a letter informing he has tax debits in 2010 of $400+ and 2012 of $100+ for the CCTB and also to inform CRA of my income which is outside Canada. We only got married in Jan 2012. My queries are:

1) Does my husband loses automatically CCTB due to our marriage?
2) Does my husband have to re-imburse any child tax benefit (in this case for year 2010 $400+) prior to our marriage?
2) My PR is still under process, when I should file and pay for income tax. Even after getting PR, I may need to stay for at least 1yr in the Middle East to finish my contract and will just be spending my vacation in Canada. Is my income in the Middle East taxable? at what rate?

Thank you.
