Hi, I landed in Canada on November 2018. I worked for a few days in December. I am returning to my country this month. Do I have to file a tax return for 2018? If yes, how do I do it from my country?

Thanks

No because you only worked for such a small amount of time. If you are not planning on returning for a long while you should close your bank account. Look up resident for tax purposes and citizen/PR.

You can keep the bank account but just tell your banker to change it as a non resident for tax purposes.

Keeping a bank account has its convenient especially if you want to wire some money into Canada before settle down later in your life.
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have to close it. By the way, is there any formality to be done to become a non-resident for tax purposes?

It depends. Follow canuck's advice.

Thanks. I checked out the residency status for tax purposes and it looks like I will be considered an emigrant if I have no ties in Canada such as Bank accounts. Since I am planning to close the account, I think that will solve the issue.
