Somebody please help me if this information is true:

I was looking to get admission in a college in canada but a friend who is already in canada suggested me to take admission in any university as it is better and we can get PR as soon as our course is over and will have better chances of good jobs

Please confirm if this is true. I do not want to go for an expensive university hence planning to go for memorial university...

please advise soon as I will be deciding on this by tomorrow through my consultant

Everything depends on your interest.
Colleges and universities both are good. University degrees are surely more valued, but I believe what really matters is your interest.
Memorial university is nice and because it is cheap it is very competitive and you need to have good profile to get accepted into it.
As for PR, maybe a two year course will be more helpful for PR. But I would suggest that don't just blindly go for any 2 year course. See and ask yourself if you are interested in the subjects that are going to be taught during the course? Because your knowledge and expertise is what will fetch you a good job.
You should visit the websites of different colleges and universities to checkout their programs.

If you are going to apply for PR under CEC (Which most of the students does) than apart from 2 year of study you will need 1 year of canadian work experience.
based on your 2 year or 1 year study you will get a Post graduate work permit for the same amount of time i.e 2 year or 1 year and with that permit you can work in Cananda.
And after you obtain 1 year of Canadian work experience you can apply for PR.
You should checkout the rules for PR under CEC from the following link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/
