Hi all,
I am a Syrian citizen in the United States, I filed for asylum in the US, then Trump's executive order came out, which suspends any and all processing of Syrian refugees indefinitely, now I am considering going to Canada to file for asylum since I fall under the family exception for the third country agreement for I have a Canadian uncle, QUESTION IS am I ok and cleared to proceed with this stunt? or the fact that I filed in the US would bar me from asylum in Canada no matter what? please help im literally stranded ....

Thank you, I'll memorize the entire page :D
Trump order stops the admission of refugees from Syria indefinitely. That means the Government of the US closed the door at your face and your case was abandon by the US, and not YOU. So you are fine to go to the Canadian-US border and claim refugee.

Youa are welcome. The 1951 Refugee Convention is the key legal document that forms the basis of refugees. Ratified by 145 State parties, it defines the term ‘refugee’ and outlines the rights of the displaced, as well as the legal obligations of States to protect them.

The core principle is non-refoulement, which asserts that a refugee should not be returned to a country where they face serious threats to their life or freedom. This is now considered a rule of customary international law, and the US violates this international law.
