Swedes who has immigrated (or are immigrating) to Canada

I just thought I'd see if there were any Swedes who are in the process of (or are) immigrating to Canada here on this forum.

I am going to send in my application in January through common-law, and any help from fellow Swedes residing in Canada would be great to hear from.

Currently I reside in Kitchener-Waterloo

I've been trying to find any sort of Swedish or Scandinavian network for the Toronto region but have had no luck... If anyone know of one, give me a shout.

I know no one who is Scandinavian here, only time I have ever met Swedes in two years here have been when my parents were here in September. Day 1: met 3 Swedes, Day 3, met another one. I guess you need to be speaking Swedish to find each other!

Hi Graihn, have you checked out the forum member named Sweden? I cannot remember if she is Swedish or just lived there for a time but she is very smart and knowledgeable and maybe she can help. Search her on the members tab at the top of the page on the right hand side. You can read through her posts this way as well. Blessings.

We are thinking of moving to Victoria in a few years. Not a fan of Kitchener where I am now,..

As a PR whenever the process is done, estimating a few more weeks tops. Heard Victoria is pretty nice, i'm heading for Vancouver myself.

Too lazy to find out; how long is belastninsgregistret valid? I will receive mine this coming week, and application is being submitted in January, and I am adding 6 months on top of that for the PR app. I think I saw somewhere that it is only valid for 6 months... True or false?

Ok, hittade en gammal polisrapport som jag använt för nuvarande co-op visumet, inget bäst före. Dock kommer den som skickas till mig ha min svenska adress skrivet på den (föräldrarnas adress), problem med detta? Antar inte

inga problem så länge rapporten är på engelska och ditt namn står på den

Victoria-based I can confirm, it's a nice place to live, but Vancouver is not bad either especially now when the rest of the country is covered in snow (but well - for Swedes that's probably OK!).

For Police certificates: they need to reach CIC 3 months max after being issued. But that's the rule for the Criminal Record.
If you're using a police report to show address etc. then it doesn't really matter from what I remember.
No problem with the parents' address.

Hi Sweden, nice to "see" you. Thanks for chiming in. By the way, my update is that hubby was processed and approved for his visa so I am with him now in Trinidad but we will be flying home together on Sat. Dec. 14th for him to "land" on Canada as a PR. I am so looking forward to it! And Victoria (Vanc. Island) is probably one of the most beautiful spots in the world. I have lived in Hawaii and the Caribbean so I have some good island comparisons.
