Hey,

I have a few questions on the process of sponsoring someone immigrating to Canada. I've been in a relationship with my bf who lives in the UK for 3 years. We plan on getting married and he will be coming to Canada. I wanted to know what the best and fastest option would be for us starting this process. Would it be better to apply for him as a conjugal partner first? To apply for a spousal sponsorship would we have to be married first, or if we plan to be married like in our case would that be the better option? Can he be in Canada before I apply for any of the above options?
Are there any special requirements for people immigrating from the UK?

Conjugal is not for you, so don't go that route.

You need to have lived together continuously for at least one year to apply common law or as you said be married and apply that way. You can apply from within Canada if you are both living there or outside of Canada. Depends on your circumstances, what route is better for you, etc.

Agreed that conjugal is a no. You either need to get married or live together for a year continuously to become common law before he can sponsor you.
