Surrender Certificate Query

I am planning on going to the BLS Service Center in Ottawa in-person (walk-in) to apply for my Surrender Certificate. Do I need submit my original Canadian Passport or would the self attested copy of the Canadian Passport work?

You need to submit self attested copy. Original they will verify and give it back.
