Super Visa

Hi,

So finally Super Visa is in effect. I was just going thru the cic website, and understood that undergoing medical exam is a must for this visa category...see below:

Note: You will be required to undergo an immigration medical examination in order to come to Canada. Instructions on completing the examination will be provided to you by the visa office. You are not required to complete the examination before you submit your application forms.

What I dont understand is the last sentence saying that You are not required to complete the examination before you submit your application forms. What exactly does it mean? Does it mean that once the VO asks for the medical exam, only then parents should undergo the exam? Do you see any chance that VO may not even ask for medical exam. Also I was thinking that old age parents and especially grandparents normally have some sort of disability ailments, so how do the visa office look at it? Please let me know your view on that.

Regarding Private Medical Insurance, How much do you think it would cost for atleast one year of health insurance for a coverage of $100,000/= . I know that there are many insurance providers out there with different price tags, but in general, roughly how much should it cost? What if parents dont get the visa, then is the money refunded? Furthermore, since this is a multiple entry 10 years visa, if parents get the visa and they plan to travel after like 6 or 8 months, how does this effect the insurance purchased and money paid for it?

Looking forward to your valuable input.

Thanks.

1. Yes the parents will require a medical exam
2. It is pointless to have the medical exam before you submit the application, because you don't have the forms, and the application may be refused, so no use to have medical.
3. The insurance is for those applying for the Super visa, entry for 2 years, different from apply for a multiple entry visa.

According to the www.cic.gc.ca

Visa officers consider several factors before deciding if a person is admissible. The person must be a genuine visitor to Canada who will leave by choice at the end of the visit. Among the things that could be considered are:

*the person's ties to the home country;
*the purpose of the visit;
*the person's family and financial situation;
*the overall economic and political stability of the home country; WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
*an invitation from a Canadian host.

If someone's parent is from unstable country then what does it mean? How it will effect the person's application for the super visa.

Can someone explain it?

I am assuming that CIC want to be sure that the people that are being issued the super-visa, are just here as tourists. If someone lives in a Country that is unstable, they are more likely to either stay in Canada after the visa expires or try and get refugee status.

Therefore, anyone applying for the visa that comes from an unstable Country will probably be denied.

Makes sense really.

Thanks everyone for the valuable information provided.

About the overall economic and political stability of the home country, basically my parents are from Pakistan but holds Kuwaiti residence visa and are in Kuwait for the last 7 years. Do you think this would help and only the country of residence (Kuwait) will be considered for super visa?

Many thanks.

@Tariq: I think they will consider both countries but concetrate more on Pakistan than Kuwait.

www.cic.gc.ca did not mention clearly!. I think they must clear it. And they could also make list of those country which are unstable. Vy that way they could save Canadian time and resouces and Visa Officers time as well. Simple is that Conservative goverment simply on its conservative anti-immigration agenda and trying to making Canadians fool.

Can you explain why Canadians are fools?

I find your answer puzzling. Can you show links to where it is stated that the conservative government are anti immigration?

Let us be honest here. Canada wants immigrants that are going to add something to Canada. Canadians want immigrants that are going to embrace Canada and add something to this Country.

If you seriously believe that Canadians are fools, then I suggest you stay in your own Country or go to somewhere that you feel the people are not fools. I for one am offended by your attitude and answer.

Being made A fool....is the correct way of typing. I can read properly, just cannot read bad English, go figure.

I think you also mean, I know the Conservatives are making people look like fools.....10 years in Canada and yet you are still unable to write properly.

I still find you offensive, if you do not like Canada, then go back home.

Kan2008 Canada is a democracy, and the government is only doing what the people want. If you talk to most Canadians they welcome immigrants, but only those immigrants who will come here and contribute something, ie work hard, invest money, start a business, and pay taxes, that's it.

Canadians support the conservative government on this, even those who are liberal support this. Canada can't afford old people into this country who would be a burden on our already burdened healthcare, we simply can't afford it. Canadians already pay too much tax.

The Super Visa is very generous, it allows parents and grandparents to visit their relatives without being a burden on Canadian tax payers, that is very smart and should have been implemented a long time ago.

Canada has every right to be selective and choosy about who it lets in. Canada is very generous, probably too generous.

Rich countries like Kuwait UAE, Qatar etc.. would never give anyone not even fellow Muslims or Arabs citizenship and free healthcare. Let me see anyone go ask the Qataris for free healthcare or citizenship, they will kick you out in 2 seconds.

I think you are discriminating old people.

I disagree that super visa is very generous, especially the high income requirement. Before the super visa, regular single and multiple visiting visas already allows parents and grandparents to visit their relatives without being a burden on Canadian tax payers.

The problem with the supervisa medical insurance is that parents have to be insured for one year but not during their stay.

If they stay for 1 month they still have to pay the full year insurance which will cost each of them 4000 or even more.

But if they are not insured and require medical treatment, the Canadian taxpayer has to cover any medical expenses.

What is the better way (for Canada) to proceed?

FWIW Canada has made its choice, the government is highly unlikely to change the decision.

Agreed. The government will not be changing their decision. What they've done is actually supported by the majority of Canadians (we see evidence of this time and time again when immigration polls are conducted). During a time when the economy is suffering, public transportation costs are on the rise, jobs are fewer, etc. - the average Canadian is not going to be in favour of an immigration policy that may increase their tax burden. Like it or not - that's the harsh reality.

At the end of the day Canada and its tax payers don't owe anyone anything.

Canada has every right to be choosy and picky and look out for its self interests when deciding who to let in the country.

It's not discrimination, Canada has to look after its own citizens first.

The Super visa is a great idea, and so is the health insurance part.

You are welcome to visit your kids and grand kids, just make sure you have your own health care and don't burden the tax payer.

Canadians support this! Canadians are fine with people visiting as long as it does not cost the tax payer money!

They should end the parent and grand parent sponsorship program completely after the 2 years.
