Hi Everyone!

I have a question regarding LICO. I understand that every dependent in my household has to be included under low income cut off. But my question is what about financially independent family members? Do they also have to be included in the low income cut off?

I am planning to sponsor my mother-in-law under super visa category. My biological mother is financially independent, she works full time, pays her own taxes separately and has her own notice of assessment in Canada. It's just I am the only child she has in Canada so she lives with me. She pays her own bills to pay as well.

I want to sponsor my mother in law. My question is, since my mother is financially independent, would she still have to be included in my low income cut off (LICO) just because she lives with me?

Thanks'

1. Does your income independently meet LICO for yourself + your spouse + your mom + your mom-in-law? Assuming you don't have children.

2. Your invitation letter for your mom-in-law's super visa application must declare that your mom lives with you.

3. If you meet LICO for 4 persons then include your financial documents + your mom's financial documents. Note: Your mother is NOT a super visa co-host, but her documents will prove to IRCC that she earns an income although she does not pay 50:50 for all shared, common expenses

if I include my mother then I do not meet the low income cut. And she does pay for her own expenses. The house lease is under both our names me and my mother. She has her own car and has her own bills to pay as well
