Super VISA issued - A few important questions

Hi,

Super VISA was issued for my friend's mother in August 2012. His mother did not travel to Canada on that Super VISA since then; however wants to come to Canada now.

Questions are:

1) Is there a time limit of landing on Super VISA? The validty / expiry of the Super VISA is in Feb 2016. Can she land on the super visa which was granted in August 2012?
2) can she come on a one way ticket? The reason for this is that she will live for more then a year in canada and no airline gives a return ticket for a date greater then 1 year.

Thanks.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. I am new to this type of forum. I am a Canadian citizen from HK, came here when I was 3. I am currently working now for the past 10 years. My entire family is Canadian and lives here. My question also relates to my gf who is a Chinese from Shanghai in regards to getting a Super Visa for her parents to come over and visit. She is currently living at my house with my parents since the beginning of this year.

My gf has been studying here in Canada for the past 2 yrs, graduated and got her Accounting degree in Seneca last October and just started work in Feb 2014 as an Acct Payable position which pays 30k a year.
She wants to invite her parents over for a 2 week visit but her mom insists on applying for a Super Visa and not a normal visitor visa (not sure why she insists this)
Her parents are using an visa agent in China and they require a ton of information, such as a letter of approval of residency, as well as a letter which states "People's list in my house" which states everyone who lives in the house she currently lives in (which is my parents). This includes birthdays and city of birth also. I don’t see why this is needed at all. She says the Canadian Government requires this info. Is that true?
She is not a PR yet but will plan to apply for one next year with more work and income under her belt. I don’t think her parents qualify for a Super Visa due to LICO and not being a PR but she says there were changes in 2014 which makes her eligible to apply her parents over. (I can’t verify this on the internet). She says tons of her Chinese friends got their parents on Super Visa the past couple of years. Anyways, I tried calling CIC but I can’t seem to reach a live person over the phone.
It sounds like she wants to use me as a sponsor (which I don’t mind honestly) but I want to make sure what her agent in China is telling me is true?

I know I am a newbie here but I dont know what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This should answer your question "Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents may be eligible to apply for the parent and grandparent super visa." http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp

My wife is also from Shanghai but her parents did not require those info (such as People's list in my house, birth dates, letter of residency, city of birth, etc.) in order to apply and get their 10-year regular multiple visit visas. In addition, tell her parents that they do not qualify for super visas and they should download the relevant application package with checklist and go to the visa application centre on Xujiahui road or the Canadian consulate on Nanjing Road to apply for their visit visa. It sounds like the agent they use probably is not reliable.

Ok. got off the phone, the agent wasnt really helpful but at least she basically said that whatever is on the website is the requirements and nothing more or less will be needed. Thus things like "People's list in my house, birth dates, letter of residency, city of birth" should not be needed as it is not on the CIC site. I also dont think she qualifies and even if we are common law or married, she needs me to co-sign as a sponsor in order to get her parents over with a Super visa. Its not up to me, but mostly up to her. but I can help her.

I dont know if there is a loophole that people in China knows about (since she says a lot of her friends all got the Super Visa) OR someone within CIC is allowing certain applications to be accepted with insufficient requirements, thus that specific agent was used because she has connections with CIC. I do not really trust the agents working over in China, especially with me and my family's information being sent over there.

Steaky,

Is your wife a PR when she applied the Super Visa and when was it, last year, this year? my gf isnt qualified to be a PR yet but will once she works a year and make some income, she plans to apply.

Thanks again

She is a PR, but her father applied and got the 10 year validity regular multiple visit visa. It was last month, March 2014. Like I said, don't rely on that agent and proceed the application to the visa application centre or directly to the Canadian consulate instead.

She is not a PR
Then she cannot apply for Super VIsa for her parent. You could be her co-sponsor if you wish (I would not) and if your GF qualifies to be your common law spouse.

there is a loophole that people in China knows about
The agent just want more money.So leave the agent in China alone :D follow the www.cic.gc.ca requests. That's all what you need. And agent on phone WAS actually helpful.

Thx for the response guys. Appreciate it. I agree with you guys on all counts. I wouldnt touch the agent at all but I can understand why she wants to use the agent because my gf dont qualify but I DO NOT WANT any association with using the agent. As well I do not want to sponsor her at this point as I feel I may become liable for something down the row...and I dont want to get my parents involved in something that is me and my gf's issue.

Actually I did more digging and found the below at w w w.canadainternational.gc.ca/china-chine/visas/TRV_application_kit.aspx :

From your inviter(s):
• An written and signed invitation letter promising financial support for the duration of your visit;
• A list showing the number of people in the inviter’s household;
• A copy of the inviter’s citizenship or immigration status document (e.g. Permanent Resident Card – please copy both sides);
• Proof of inviter’s ability to provide promised financial support in the form of independent, thirdparty documentation from a Canadian source which is reliable or easily verifiable. For example, but not limited to: Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessments [NOA], employment letters showing salary, pay stubs, banks statements, Statements of Remuneration Paid or financial statements prepared by a licensed professional.

The one thing that stands out is this:

• A list showing the number of people in the inviter’s household;

This maybe what my gf needs but of course I dont want to have anything signed by my parents whom is the person who owns the house. Maybe it does not need to be signed. Anyhow, can anyone elaborate on what this means and why that is needed??

Because she lives with me and my parents, does that mean this list has to include me and my parents??

Maybe this is only a requirement for Chinese.

Steaky, your thoughts? thx again

From what I remembered I mentioned the names of the people living in the household in the invitation letter but there was no separate list that mentioned the birth dates and birth place of each household member. However, as my father in law knows this, he might add this at the request of the visa application centre.

Probably this is only a requirement for Chinese applicants.

It looks like they ask just for number of people living in that household. I could only suppose that Canadian VO in China do not want somebody in Canada living "twenty people in 2bedroom house" invites the 21st relative to stay with them in the same house. :D

And by the way, you invite her mom- then these are YOUR rules. No agents. Apply online for her (fill in a form for a representative- you) only for a visitor visa.
