We plan to apply for a study visa for our 18 year old at a border crossing in a few weeks. In addition to financial documents, etc., do we also need to deposit the minimum for a single student as stated on the chart of $10,000. in a Canadian bank, even if we can show that that an amount additional to tuition of $833. a month will be able to be given her, based on our financial documents and school scholarship funds?
In other words, does the cash deposit of that whole amount need to be in a Canadian bank before she can get her visa? Do we need to open her a Canadian bank account before applying for the visa? Is that cash deposit necessary, or is proof of ability to pay as much as that amount as shown with financial documents sufficient, instead?
Also, if she is staying in a residential program, with room and board, does she need to apply for a temporary resident visa, also?
Lastly, is there any problem with applying for a study visa at a Quebec border crossing, if the student plans to study in Ontario?
Thanks!
