I’m in Canada on a student visa which expires in May 2020.

I applied for admission in a program and got accepted. I submitted my application for a study permit on February 11 but haven’t received an update from CIC yet. My program begins on May 4.

Should I contact cic? Should I defer my admission?
can I legally stay in Canada after expiry of student visa on an implied status?

Please guide me.

1. You have implied status as a student until you get the decision on the extension (117-134 days processing)
2. Your choice either to attend or defer.

Okay. So the processing time is 117-134 days from February 12 or from today?

I mean, the day I applied the processing time was 95-96 days and now it’s increased. So I’m not too sure of how and when will I get it.
this whole processing time is a confusion for me.
