Thank you for your response, you mean I need to wait almost 6-7 months totally?
do you know any other option that I can change my study to work permit sooner?
No longer. Your friend has to post the job on various sites for at least a month. Then file for LMIA. Depending on NOC, process can take months. Then you apply for closed work permit, then you can wait 5+ months.

Your option is to graduate and get PGWP, or get PR through EE or PNP

Hi There,

I would be thankful if you help me with my problem. Currently, I studying master's degree but I want to quit and switch my study permit to a work permit. I need your help to figure out what should I do to transfer my study permit to the work permit.
I searched a lot but there are a lot of confusing titles on google.

I found a friend that he has a construction company (home renewal, ...) and he says if it is possible I can give you a job offer based on your experience.
I just want to ask you to see is it possible to switch my visa status based on this job offer or not?

This is an urgent question, please let me know if someone can help me.

Yes, it's possible but will take time. .

- First step is for your employer to obtain an approved LMIA after advertising the job for one month following the LMIA advertising requirements. Getting an approved LMIA will take several months.
- Once the LMIA is approved, you can then apply for a closed work permit. You cannot start working until the work permit is approved and must remain in school full time until the work permit is approved to avoid jeopardizing your status in Canada.
- The job should be directly related to your education and/or past work experience. If it isn't, then there's going to be a very high chance the work permit will be refused.

No other option based on the information you've provided. Yes, you should expect to wait at least 6-7 months.

Hello, My wife studies in Quebec and a company wants to hire her, She will start working in 17 July with the study permit.
The company already told they will apply for the whole process of closed visa, but they will apply after she start working.
She intend to not enroll for the next term.
She can keep working after the company applies right? While they wait for the result.

No, it doesn't quite work this way. If she wants to continue working while she waits for the closed work permit to be processed, she must continue to maintain her status as a full time student, otherwise she will be working illegally. I assume she is on a summer break now. If the closed work permit is approved before her studies resume in September, then she can obviously stop studying and just continue working full time. If not, she needs to make sure that she is enrolled in school and studying full time for the next term.

Thanks Scylla, one more question that I think you can solve it.

Me and my wife always thinked that if the company starts the process and she is working with them, she will lose her current status and it will be called "implied". With that, if she can not go to another company. She can not go out and back of Canada, etc. She remains doing whats she was doing before the application (working with that company).

It is not correct, right?

That is not really correct either. Her status will still be student / study permit. She will not switch to implied status just because she has applied for a closed work permit. It doesn't work that way. Again, if she wants to continue working while she waits for the closed work permit to be processed, then she needs to maintain her status as a full time student and must continue her studies full time. She can certainly leave Canada while the closed work permit is being processed but will need to make sure she has a valid TRV to return.

Great, now that you cleared our minds, We will have more peace to think about it! She will continue the full time student course and that's it!
Thank you again!!!
