No, it doesn't quite work this way. If she wants to continue working while she waits for the closed work permit to be processed, she must continue to maintain her status as a full time student, otherwise she will be working illegally. I assume she is on a summer break now. If the closed work permit is approved before her studies resume in September, then she can obviously stop studying and just continue working full time. That is not really correct either. Her status will still be student / study permit. She will not switch to implied status just because she has applied for a closed work permit. It doesn't work that way. Again, if she wants to continue working while she waits for the closed work permit to be processed, then she needs to maintain her status as a full time student and must continue her studies full time. Me and my wife always thinked that if the company starts the process and she is working with them, she will lose her current status and it will be called "implied". With that, if she can not go to another company. She can not go out and back of Canada, etc. She remains doing whats she was doing before the application (working with that company).
