There appears to be some issue with the Abu Dhabi embassy. Although they have made decisions on applications but they aren't updating it on GCKEY and applicants who applied through their regional VFS' are being told to submit passport when they are calling themselves in stress and anxiety.

The Abu Dhabi visa office responded to my case specific enquiry finally alhamdulillah. Here's what they said
All applications for temporary/permanent residence in Canada are subject to statutory requirements, including background checks. These requirements must be satisfied before an applicant may be granted temporary/permanent resident status. We are currently conducting certain background investigations.

yea they respond to my case exactly the same respond over 3 weeks ago!, and nobody knows how long this will takes.

I have missed my semester thats for sure. I have to start in January 2017,what I am thinking is to forfeit my online application and put in a paper application through VFS.

Alhumdulillah, Atleast they're reading those enquiries... it was pathetic before.

I just looked through He___ profile and he applied through vfs way ahead of us and he still hasn't received his permit. I think it's just best to avoid Abu Dhabi whether vfs or online. I'm originally from Bangladesh and you'll find in this forum Bangladeshi students who applied online later than I did and they received their permits before September. I don't think it's about applying online. It's about applying in Abu Dhabi/GCC.

May Allah help us.

I think he is an exception and he can surely call VFS to see what's going on. We can't call anyone...

I called them many times and I went there as well many times and they are just useless. the only thing they keep saying under process and we can't do anything to help until we get info from the embassy, i believe it's just luck. a friend of mine applied after me and got his permit back in Aug. lets all hope we will get it because waiting sucks

I believe you applied from Qatar didn't you?

Hey guys, just registered to reply.

1. Application type: Study Permit, Paper based in VFS Dubai
2. Intake: September 2016
3. Submission date: June 08, 2016
4. Application Status: Under Process / Open
5. Additional Comments: Submitted Case Specific Inquiry 2 times (with 2 weeks difference) and got the exact message posted above, background checks. Last response was on Thursday 8th September.

Please if anyone applied from Dubai and got it approved post the details, and how long will it take for them to stamp my passport after they request it? I am so worried, my classes will begin after this weekend :(

I think they're on a 2 day holiday due to Eid. So next week would be a 3 day work week for them. Why dont you call your VFS after Eid holidays Omar.HR, you never know they might actually need your passport.

Thanks for the reply.
I've been contacting VFS for weeks, they are useless, all they say is the approval needs MINIMUM 80 days. And ask me to submit case specific inquiries...
I tried to call the embassy but it's only a useless answering machine, you can't talk to anyone.
I even went to the embassy in Abu Dhabi, and I was NOT even allowed to enter, they said the embassy is not open to the public (since January 2016). The security guard asked me to write a letter and he promised me it will be delivered to the visa officer (as a favor), but that also didn't change anything. They didn't call me back.
The embassy also doesn't reply to any emails, all auto replies ask to submit the CSI instead.

Too bad I won't be enjoying Eid break... I am too worried about this :(
They are still open on Sunday though I think. So let's hope!

I am so sorry Omar, I can emphatize with you because it's my worst Eid as well... I have become a source of disappointment for my family, it's the worst phase of my life. But don't know what to do, I applied online on June 2nd and no response since then. They're total assholes

What I am thinking is to cancel my online and make a paper application after September 20th through the VFS.
