Just wondering why do you guys want the actual extension? If you applied you are on implied status and are fine to continue to study right? I sense a lot of anxiety here which I'm trying to understand. Also you can apply PGWP on implied status. I will probably apply for extension soon and wonder if Im missing something.
Well, if you don’t have a valid study permit and you apply for PGWP then you can’t work until they take a decision on your PGWP application.

I've applied for my co-op work permit extension along with the study permit extension. There is a lot of uncertainty around if I can start my co-op on implied status. Do you happen to know?

You will get implied status on

You can’t start your co-op without the permit .... where study permit allow you to continue study on implied status but Co-op permit you applied for the 1st time will totally a different status compare to your study one...

Amongst November applicants, there are those:

1. Who extended up to December 2019 + 90 days, which have since passed. Those people have yet to apply for the PGWP in the hope of not being able to work. It is anyone's guess now what IRCC will decide on those applications given their ideal extension periods have passed.

2. Who want to transition to a CO-OP permit like @meister here, which he needs a valid status for.

3. Who have applied for a PGWP but are unsure what the decision will be or of further delay in that case should their PGWP applications be delayed because their SPs have not being approved. e.g. @k.karina

4. Who have completed their initial programs but cannot start a new program indefinitely till they get a response from IRCC.

5. Who are apathetic seeing applications approved which were made 3 months after theirs. As with all things IRCC, the slow, random process means you are not sure when or how long your application will remain unprocessed.

Take your pick on any of these that qualify as being "anxious".

From my interaction with people, you need to hold a coop work permit alongside your study permit to work. I might be wrong.

Did you speak with your school's international office?

I did have a co-op work permit for my first post-grad certificate which expired along with my original study permit last month. I'm now in my second post grad certificate with also has a co-op work term. I'm getting mixed responses from IRCC and college.

You will need the Co-op work permit, anyway. Left to me, I would apply now. There is nothing to lose.

Maybe they will even process that before the SP extension at this point who knows.

I've already applied for the co-op work permit along with my study permit application. The same study permit extension application asks you if you want to apply for a co-op work permit.

Yes, we have an option for academic co-op as well. Which college are you enrolled in?

I’m doing the same thing. I was told we are eligible to work full time so I have started working since I applied for work permit on April 30. But some people have been told that working is not allowed.

Guys, did anyone try calling them. We should really express our concern to them it has been more than normal processing times. They have to answer us, their webform is so stupid. We need to do something before it’s too late. Pretty sure they have something broken that they won’t admit to.
