I had a study permit and a work permit to complete my postsecondary studies, 6 months of classes, with other 6 months for a co op paid, the program lasts 18 months, with a break of 6 months in the middle. I claimed refugee status, and I was eligible, but I have not finished my co op whose duration is less than 6 months, when I was eligible, I received a work permit that says that I cannot study unless I was authorized, but usually for studies shorter than 6 months, you do not need a study permit, that means that I can not start my co op?? Am I Wrong? I should het another study permit? I need to prove my financial funds again? I do not have the money. I claimed refugee as soos as I knew I can do it, and I gave more importance, because my personal safety it is more important than money or my studies.

Thanks for your answers.

How long is the program in total? A 6 month co-op cannot be a stand alone program so you need a study permit. If you don’t have the funds then it may be refused. May be best to get PR and then finish studies.

Your studies are longer than six months. You have to use the total duration of the program.
