Good evening from Nigeria @Omofar and the goog people of this forum. Hope you all are well?

A friend of mine is at a crossroad. Her study permit has been approved but she used a LOA from University of Saskatchewan but intend to transfer to another school. The tuition is kinda high for her.

Pls has anyone done anything like this and what's the process. This is urgent.

Thanks in advance.
Is she in Canada and has been studying at the U of S? If not based on new rules, she needs a new study permit. Her permit was approved on the basis of her attending the university.

Hi,

I don't see any problem here.

Is your friend already in Canada or still in Nigeria? If she already has an offer from another school that is more affordable, then all she needs to do is to go online to her IRCC account and change her DLI.

@Naturgrl, in Canada, study permit allows you to study, it is not tied to a particular institution.

All the best to your friend.

Cheers

She needs new Study Permit. You cant change SP after change of DLI from outside of Canada, and in Canada you only do that if you are actively registered student

Your friend will be issued a study permit at the border upon entry into Canada.

What she currently has is a TRV, temporary resident permit/visa, that allows her to reside in Canada, it does not allow her to study.

The actual study permit is issued at the port of entry. It is dependent on the LOA she presents to the CBSA officer. The point is she cannot change what she does not have already.

Nevertheless, feel free to consult immigration lawyers if you are unsatisfied with the responses on this platform.

All the best to your friend.

Cheers

Let's clarify a few things.

1. Who is requesting for your passport and how were you contacted?

2. Who is asking you to submit collection slip?

3. How did you apply, paper or online? If you applied by paper application, you shouldn't have your passport with you, if you applied online, you shouldn't require a collection slip until you are sent a passport request letter.

So your story is not clear, and I am unable to offer any guidiance.

All the best.

@Omofar it’s online application, my application was approved and I got request letter for ppr.

Congratulations!

You just need to download the PPR request letter and go to VFS and ask them how to send your passport to them.

All the best in Canada.

You need to inform the school of the delay of payment due to banking procedures in home Country. They should be able to give you an extension.
Which bank did you use to pay?you will need to speak to the Bank Manager to explain your plights so they can facilitate the payment for you. Once pushed the school should receive payment latest 3-4 days.

All the best.

The bank are the one to push it not CBN. He /She just told you that to let you go.
For example my cousin paid Tuition fee with UBA form A .And my friend at the Head office V.I pushed it and school received payment in 4 working days.

So if you can go back to the bank and speak to someone in their language they want. They will process it fast if not it will be on the queue for a long time.

All the best.

What is the new rule? I would like to see where it's written.

There is no rule preventing you from changing your DLI once you are in Canada. However, if you decline your admission to the school for which you were given the approval (LOI), before you come into Canada, that's where you will have a problem. in that case, you must apply for a new SP. If you come into Canada and you are given your SP at the airport, nothing stops you from registering for courses in a different DLI. You don't even need IRCC's permission to do that. All you need to do (and you must do this) is to go online - Google changing my DLI, you will see the link, through which to notifying IRCC that you are attending another DLI. SP is not tied to any particular DLI, even if the two-digit code of the province of the initial DLI may be printed on it; it can be used anywhere.

Having said that, and I assume that is the so-called "new rules", if your program at the DLI of your preference is not starting within 150 days of obtaining your study permit, you must apply to IRCC to change your status to a visitor in Canada or leave Canada to return at a later date.

I hope this is clear to all.
