Greetings All,
I took my time to transcribe Justin Trudeau's speech on new measures for international travelers to Canada. Enjoy!
''Starting next week, all international passenger flights must land only at the following four airports. Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.
In addition to the pre-boarding test we require; as soon as possible in the coming weeks, we will be introducing mandatory PCR testing at the airport for people returning to Canada. Travelers will then have to wait for 3-days at an approved hotel for their test results at their own expense which is expected to be more than $2,000CAD. Those with negative test results will then be able to quarantine at home under significantly increased surveillance, and enforcement. Those with positive tests will be immediately required to quarantine at designated government facilities to make sure they are not carrying variants of potential concern. We will also in the coming weeks, non-essential travelers to show a negative test before entry at the land border with the US, and we are working to stand-up additional testing requirements for land travel.''- Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister Canada.
What do I think about this new measures you might ask? Well, I would say welcome to NAZI-CANADA. I personally would not want to have anything to do with this kind of Canada, under this kind of totalitarianism. The same one we are trying to escape from in Africa, where freedom, liberty, civil rights of the people are sacrificed on the altar of 'keeping people safe'.
Anyone still wishing to pursue studies in Canada can be my guest, but for me, its no longer my cup of tea, not the Canada I had in mind or dreamed of. That one probably died 10-15 years ago. This is an Orwellian '1984' Canada which I would not like to be part of at all.
This new measures will have a detrimental impact on study permit approvals, as well as welfare and lifestyle of international students in Canada.
My sincere opinion. It should not influence anyone's decision to either proceed to Canada or not.
I wish everyone the very best.
Cheers.
