NOC Code......

1. Sale of transaction: Deed of assignment, payment details, sale documents/contract etc.

2. Evidence of work should be letter of employment, letter of reference from manangement/HR, bank 3-6 months bank statements should show your salary being paid into your account.

3. Funds to not need to be in your account for that long, but it should remain there until your visa is sorted. I would personally encourage you to pay your fees for a year if you can afford to before applying for the study permit.

I wish all the best.

Hello Omofar,

I just completed my BSc last year with a first class in biomedical science and I recently secured a research scholarship worth around $30,000 for a thesis-based graduate program at McMaster University. I have a decent travel history; I’ve been to the U.K. several times and also obtained my degree there.

I am about applying for my student visa and I have a few questions;

Firstly, do you reckon I would still need to provide bank statements n that as my scholarship covers my tuition ($17,000) and living expenses?

Secondly, I know a police clearance certificate is needed, however It wasn’t among the required documents in my application. Do I still to go ahead with this regardless?

Thirdly, I’m going for a 2 years masters program but my int’l passport expires next year. Would you advice to go ahead with the application and maybe renew my passport later?

Thanks for the time bro. You’re doing amazing work on here. I’d love to discuss this further privately if possible.
Cheers
Hi Ace_

Congratulations on securing a funded masters program into McMaster, that is a great achievement. Well done! Which University did you graduate from?

1. You will still need to provide bank statements to show that you can support yourself for both tuition and living costs for a year. I know it sounds ridiculous, but you still need to do it, or else you will not get the permit.

2. Yes, please get the police report and upload it to the 'client information' section of the online application.

3. Well depends. If there is time, go and try to get a new passport asap, the Canadian embassy will not issue you a TRV beyond the limit of your passport. From what I hear, those working at the Nigerian embassy in Ottawa are very unprofessional, it is easier to deal with immigration in Nigeria than when you leave the country. If you can, try to get a new passport before you apply, it save you the hassle of having to renew your passport and also having to extend your TRV.

4. Finally, there are two things a. TRV- Temporary Resident Visa, this is what will be issued to you in Nigeria by the embassy, it cannot go beyond the validity of your passport. b. Study Permit- This is usually issued at the port of entry, that is when you get to Toronto International airport. I am not certain, but I think your study permit is issued based on your LOA not your passport validity. Please do not take my word for it, try renew the passport if you can before application.

All the best.

Let's know how it goes.

Hello Omofar,
Great job you are doing here.
I need your advice pls.
I just got an offer from a university in canada DLI to study MBA. Am required to pay a tuition deposit to cover for the 1st term cos they pay termly, to resume Sept. The issue is firstly i think time to process visa is short, 2. I am a married woman with 2 kids and would love to go with my family, 3.my sponsor is not related by blood but am thinking of getting the funds into my husbands account. I do not have a travel history but i have faith lol. Pls advice me the course is 2yrs and my passport expires 2021 august. Would getting the funds into a convertible bank draft be used as proof of support or would i still need bank statement with it?

Hello Habeola,

Thank you for visiting this thread and your kind words, much appreciated. I will do my best to help as many Nigerians escape the situation they find themselves in our unfortunate country.

1. Congratulations on your admission. I don't know if you can still meet up for Fall start, as there is no much time as you have rightly noted. I will suggest you make the payment ad directed by the school if you can pay for more, please do. It will still be on your account. If the school queries why you paid more (I doubt they will) then tell them it will help facilitate the successful issue of your study permit.

2. I will strongly suggest you apply and get your own permit first. Once you get it, then you can apply for your hubby and the kids.

3. I will support your plan to put the money in your hubby's account. However, money being in the account is no longer sufficient, you need to provide proof of the source of the funds.

4. No travel history out of Nigeria and you are over 30 (I presume) that is a very big red flag, I do not know how you can circumvent that. You will need to tell a good story in your SOP. You will also need to explain your family ties to Nigeria as a strong motivation for your return. Also need to elaborate on your plan for re-integrating back into the Nigerian labour market.

5. The program will likely end around that time, you can renew your passport with the Nigerian embassy in Otawa, Ontario Canada.

6. Do not put the money into a draft. It needs to be wither as a cash balance on a current or savings account, or in Fixed Deposit.

You did not mention whether you have any work experience, that will be very relevant to your application.

I hope this helps., wish you all the best.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Omofar,
Thank you for your response. I worked in a commercial bank for 5years which i resigned in 2016. Presently doing like a volunteer job for my sister's company though not on payroll.
You suggested i get my permit first before applying for my family,Does that mean i will leave for canada before them and they will join me later?
Another proof of support i saw online is having a canadian bank account in my name showing i have transfered money to canada already, will that be a better idea? I already contacted a bank in canada but the only challenge is i can only transfer $CAD20000 before Arrival due to the restricted place on my country of residence. I await your response pls.

Hello Omofar
Just got to know about this forum after I was refused my study permit on the basis that they were not convinced I will leave Canada after my study.
Can I defer my admission and two, what are my chances of being given visa when I reapply.
