Hello Omofar,
Great job you are doing here.
I need your advice pls.
I just got an offer from a university in canada DLI to study MBA. Am required to pay a tuition deposit to cover for the 1st term cos they pay termly, to resume Sept. The issue is firstly i think time to process visa is short, 2. I am a married woman with 2 kids and would love to go with my family, 3.my sponsor is not related by blood but am thinking of getting the funds into my husbands account. I do not have a travel history but i have faith lol. Pls advice me the course is 2yrs and my passport expires 2021 august. Would getting the funds into a convertible bank draft be used as proof of support or would i still need bank statement with it?
Hello Habeola,
Thank you for visiting this thread and your kind words, much appreciated. I will do my best to help as many Nigerians escape the situation they find themselves in our unfortunate country.
1. Congratulations on your admission. I don't know if you can still meet up for Fall start, as there is no much time as you have rightly noted. I will suggest you make the payment ad directed by the school if you can pay for more, please do. It will still be on your account. If the school queries why you paid more (I doubt they will) then tell them it will help facilitate the successful issue of your study permit.
2. I will strongly suggest you apply and get your own permit first. Once you get it, then you can apply for your hubby and the kids.
3. I will support your plan to put the money in your hubby's account. However, money being in the account is no longer sufficient, you need to provide proof of the source of the funds.
4. No travel history out of Nigeria and you are over 30 (I presume) that is a very big red flag, I do not know how you can circumvent that. You will need to tell a good story in your SOP. You will also need to explain your family ties to Nigeria as a strong motivation for your return. Also need to elaborate on your plan for re-integrating back into the Nigerian labour market.
5. The program will likely end around that time, you can renew your passport with the Nigerian embassy in Otawa, Ontario Canada.
6. Do not put the money into a draft. It needs to be wither as a cash balance on a current or savings account, or in Fixed Deposit.
You did not mention whether you have any work experience, that will be very relevant to your application.
I hope this helps., wish you all the best.
Please let us know how it goes.
