Students in Montreal Applied for Quebec Skilled worker for CSQ.

Hello everyone , I am starting this new topic for all INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY LIVING IN MONTREAL AND APPLYING OR APPLIED their APPLICATION UNDER QUEBEC SKILLED WORKER.

WE ALL KNOW THAT OUR PROCESSING TIME IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PEOPLE LIVING OUTSIDE CANADA, that is why i started this new topic.

I talk with my lawyer after giving him the job attestation letter. He said in july 2013 the number of files submitted for CSQ is huge. so that makes the process kind of slow these days.

my immigration lawyer also told me a student who applied for CSQ in march 2013 got his CSQ on 5th feb 2014 at the time of his interview.

Applied in March 2013, Got missing document request in December. Documents were submitted in January. Haven't heard anything back since then

I applied as a married applicant and our total points are 64. I'm hoping for an interview waiver but lets see

thank you for opening this topic it's really really very important for me because I can't study a master degree that leads to direct CSQ under PEQ (programme de l'expérience Québécoise), because of the high tuition fees.

So I'm planing to study one of the DEP (diplome d'études professionnelles) for a periode of 900 hours and it will worth me about 16 or 12 points under the QSW.

I will discuss more in my next reply, but before that, please friends as you are there already (I'm still in Algeria), do you know much about processing times under this route ? means QSW from inside Quebec ?

It will be better if you change to the title of the post to something more generic e.g. People in Montreal applied for CSQ (Since the processing time for students and temporary workers is the same). Most of the students I know are not appplying for Quebec immigration before securing a job as Quebec economy is in a mess nowadays.

Hi there. let me tell you very important thing if you want to go under a 900hr dep. I have done a DEP 900hr and everything is going good, the fees and the points, but what i am facing here is time problem. As CSQ takes 11-12 months it is difficult to get it before your post graduation work permit expires. Since these are 8 months courses will lead you to only 8 months post graduation work permit. So i would suggest you to study something which has duration of at least 1 year.

Okay, thank you, but what about the PR, I mean if I go under DEP for one year and got PGWP for one year, like this I won't face the problem of time as you did, but after getting the CSQ and applied for PR, can I stay legally ? you know by that time my work permit will be deffinetly expired, so what can do then ? If you receive CSQ BEFORE your PGWP expires and you are doing a job, you can renew your work permit without getting LMO. You will be issued a closed work permit issued for that particular employer only. However, if you are not working by the time you receive CSQ or if you receive CSQ after your PGWP expires, you'll have to change your status to visitor in order to stay in Canada. The only way of getting a work permit then will be to find an employer who is willing to apply for LMO

no you won't get any problem in getting PR 95% sure. see the thing is, if you get CSQ it is easy to extend your visa by means of extending your work permit or by exting it as a visitor. i've been reading some stuff on internet, i forgot the details but you also have a thing called bridging visa, means if you have applied for PR after CSQ you can extend your work permit or visa by showing that you have a application in process with cic.
