I was rejected in Fall intake and reapplied for Winter and got my visa hardly an hour ago. I will give this advice for people rejected for:
Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of your qualifications, previous studies,
1. Apply for your CAIPS Notes ASAP. This will tell you EXACTLY why you were rejected. Do it IMMEDIATELYAFTER 1 MONTH OF REJECTION, because my CAIPS notes took 1 and a half month to come (came in 1st week of November) and I had to apply in mid November (which is later than I wanted). Even if you dont want to apply again- ask for it so if ever in the future you wish to apply for Canada or America (even business or travel visa) you can include this in that SOP and not risk any future visa refusals. Ask your visa consultancy (mine charged 4000rs for it), but you can get it cheaper if you know someone in canada who can go to the office and collect it or through other caips note services (3k-5k, maybe more if you want them to give you advice).
2. Check if your course make logical sense. i.e If you've done Commerce in 10+2 and apply for an Engineering/Medical course in Canada you will almost surely get rejected. Similarly even smaller jumps like: 10+2 Commerce and not done bachelors, then applying for a 1yr diploma course in Business Administration might be a bad idea- a bachelors course might make better sense. Go to a good and trusted visa consultancy and give them your background info and they will suggest good and matching courses for you. Also be warned some consultancies may push some universities because they get a larger cut off from them (fanshaw for eg) so do your own research too.
3. Make a strong SOP. Dont copy paste from the internet and if you are not sure then talk to your consultancy and ask them to show you a sample visa sop so you can write a good SOP based on that. If you are not good at English, ask a friend who is good at English to help you with this. Most important- FIRST PAGE has to be your caips notes refusal and then you have to break it down line by line of why that reason does not apply to you, why you are reapplying again and then after that the rest of your SOP. For eg.-
1. Poor academics - If you have good scores in a related course (like a 3yr diploma in my case) show that as a proof that you are good hard working student to overcome this reason.
2. No logical progression - Explain why you studied your earlier course and why you wish to apply to the Canadian course and why it makes sense and what skills/knowledge will you get form it to overcome this reason.
3. Visa rejection in America - Explain that you tried for America first but you were rejected by the visa officer there for xyz reason and you are now trying for Canada because of this course in Canada is better for xyz reasons.
If the reason is difficult to explain like poor academics- and you actually have poor academics in 10th,12th or even college, then honestly don't try again. If you are young, study a bachelors (or masters if bachelors is done) program in India and do well (70%+) then try for Masters (or specialisation diploma or phd if Masters is done) in Canada.
In my case I studied English Lit in college (poor academics) then did 3yr diploma in 3D Animation and was now applying for 3D Game Design course in Canada (they ignored diploma so- no logical progression). I explained poor academics by showing my A grade in all softwares in my 3d animation diploma course certificate and a letter from the director of the animation institute stating that I was a good student. Next, I got a letter from my program coordinator in Canada saying that this course is perfect for me. Between these 2 letters and my strong SOP, I got my visa approved in 2 weeks.
Do not give up- it is not the end of the world! If you really want to do this, then try again and you will get it!
