I was rejected in Fall intake and reapplied for Winter and got my visa hardly an hour ago. I will give this advice for people rejected for:
Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of your qualifications, previous studies,

1. Apply for your CAIPS Notes ASAP. This will tell you EXACTLY why you were rejected. Do it IMMEDIATELY AFTER 1 MONTH OF REJECTION, because my CAIPS notes took 1 and a half month to come (came in 1st week of November) and I had to apply in mid November (which is later than I wanted). Even if you dont want to apply again- ask for it so if ever in the future you wish to apply for Canada or America (even business or travel visa) you can include this in that SOP and not risk any future visa refusals. Ask your visa consultancy (mine charged 4000rs for it), but you can get it cheaper if you know someone in canada who can go to the office and collect it or through other caips note services (3k-5k, maybe more if you want them to give you advice).

2. Check if your course make logical sense. i.e If you've done Commerce in 10+2 and apply for an Engineering/Medical course in Canada you will almost surely get rejected. Similarly even smaller jumps like: 10+2 Commerce and not done bachelors, then applying for a 1yr diploma course in Business Administration might be a bad idea- a bachelors course might make better sense. Go to a good and trusted visa consultancy and give them your background info and they will suggest good and matching courses for you. Also be warned some consultancies may push some universities because they get a larger cut off from them (fanshaw for eg) so do your own research too.

3. Make a strong SOP. Dont copy paste from the internet and if you are not sure then talk to your consultancy and ask them to show you a sample visa sop so you can write a good SOP based on that. If you are not good at English, ask a friend who is good at English to help you with this. Most important- FIRST PAGE has to be your caips notes refusal and then you have to break it down line by line of why that reason does not apply to you, why you are reapplying again and then after that the rest of your SOP. For eg.-
1. Poor academics - If you have good scores in a related course (like a 3yr diploma in my case) show that as a proof that you are good hard working student to overcome this reason.
2. No logical progression - Explain why you studied your earlier course and why you wish to apply to the Canadian course and why it makes sense and what skills/knowledge will you get form it to overcome this reason.
3. Visa rejection in America - Explain that you tried for America first but you were rejected by the visa officer there for xyz reason and you are now trying for Canada because of this course in Canada is better for xyz reasons.

If the reason is difficult to explain like poor academics- and you actually have poor academics in 10th,12th or even college, then honestly don't try again. If you are young, study a bachelors (or masters if bachelors is done) program in India and do well (70%+) then try for Masters (or specialisation diploma or phd if Masters is done) in Canada.

In my case I studied English Lit in college (poor academics) then did 3yr diploma in 3D Animation and was now applying for 3D Game Design course in Canada (they ignored diploma so- no logical progression). I explained poor academics by showing my A grade in all softwares in my 3d animation diploma course certificate and a letter from the director of the animation institute stating that I was a good student. Next, I got a letter from my program coordinator in Canada saying that this course is perfect for me. Between these 2 letters and my strong SOP, I got my visa approved in 2 weeks.

Do not give up- it is not the end of the world! If you really want to do this, then try again and you will get it!

Guys, this question might not relate to the subject but even so could you tell me how did you apply for visa permit? In particular, did you demonstrate an own property or business ?

I think you should wait for may intake as the time for applying for a visa for jan has closed. But you can still apply I guess. But to be on a safe side, apply after knowing the exact reason and prepare according to it.

Hey trickshot555,
Could you please suggest me what improvement should I make to get a visa approved. I am already holding a masters from India. But I was working as Assistant Professor. But now I wanted to switch to an embedded Industry. I am studying a short term course for the same here in India, but its a minor course and wont help me to get into an industry. I dont want to do another masters coz the course which i took was almost like a practical course which i am very much interested in. Is it possible to do something like getting letter from the college or something.
Please suggest me.

You were mostly rejected because you switched careers. I strongly suggest you continue studying your short term course in embedded systems in India and finish it. Then using that certificate of the course use it to try for another Embedded diploma/certificate course in Canada. Write a strong SOP explaining why you switched careers, that you completed a short course in embedded systems in India and decided you want to study it properly in Canada (better education in Canada). By finishing this course you atleast show that you are interested in the field and wont be rejected for "other reasons".

Remember in your next visa attempt the most important thing the visa officer will want to see is - What has changed. By completing this short term course in India you will show that you are serious about this career and have even studied a related course in India and so will mostly likely give you the visa for an embedded systems course in Canada. If you are going to a nice institute ask them to write you a referral letter that suggests that you are a good student in embedded systems and that will strengthen your case. You can also try contacting your college in Canada and ask them to write a referral letter saying that this course is good for you, but dont count on it- all colleges dont do this but it would strengthen your case even more.

I know this is sad news. I was rejected once, so I know how it feels to be all excited about leaving the country and then to get a rejection. Now on top of this I'm suggesting you stay in India longer and complete your old course sucks, but I dont see an easier option for you.

Hey thanks for your reply. It really helped me and I appreciate your effort to give such a clear cut answer for me. I understood that the one who get a rejection can understand the situation of others who have got refusal and its clear from your reply.

Yes I am planning to complete the course which i am doing now. Its just a three months course and I have already completed two months. So the certificate issued by them will be post graduate diploma in embedded systems. Will it create any trouble? like already a PG course, but of shorter duration only. So is it fine?
And when I apply later should I need to keep the certificate of this course along with my SOP?
And I want to know one more thing. Is it possible to apply from UK for the next attempt? I am planning to go to my husband after the completion of my course and I will get the caips note only by Jan mid. So it possible to reapply from UK VFS while on dependent or visitor visa??
Please reply.

Hey! Your suggestions are very true and important.
I have also got rejection once. I am going to re-apply. I have gotten my caips note.
I have one query though.

Should I mention everything in SOP only or can I make two different documents e.g. SOP and Reconsideration Letter?

I have made SOP which is 3 pages longer now if I add caips details and justification points, it will go up to 4-5 pages. Do you think SOP can be such longer? As I dont know about it. Therefore I was thinking of making Reconsideration Letter which will have justification and proof details for rejection.

Please guide me ASAP. I need to put my visa file again asap as I have an admission of Sept. 2017 intake in Lambton College.
