I apply for the student permit 3 months ago with I believe enough financial proof. I wanted to come in Canada for a DEC. the tuition is 12k a year and My garant show the proof of:
  • 18 000 USD in his bank account ( I believe, the requirement is 12k )
  • A steady income from his job. 125k a year.
  • Other assets ( investment account, properties, ... ) that has valued above 20k
But I got rejected and in the rejection letter, they mentions that:
  1. My finances are not enough for my studies. I don't understand. Can someone explain me how much they want as poof of income ?
  2. The reason of my visit is not compatible with a temporary stay. I'm applying for a student Visa. How is this non compatible with a temporary visa ?

Please, If someone can help me understand more. Is there something I can do at this moment ? I'm applying from Cameroon, Africa.

PS: My little sister applied at the same time as me. But she got easily approved. So I'm lost.

Thanks for you help. Ask me anything you may want to know.

Who is your guarantor? How are they related to you? Did the same individual sponsor your sister?

The second refusal reasons means the officer believe your primary reason for coming to Canada is to stay long term. The fact that both you and your sister applied at the same time will not have played in your favour.

You need to provide your full profile for us to be able to help you in detail.

Sorry for your refusal. The reasons included in the rejection letter are pretty standard. You should apply for GCMS notes to see the detailed comments from the Visa Officer so that you can address them better in a future application.

Regarding funds, you should try to show as much as possible. You should have in cash the equivalen of:

First year tuition + CAD 10,000 (hopefully, a lot more than this)

This should be in cash available, ideally in your own account or your sponsor's. Also, you should provide at least 4 months of statements with no major movements or deposits. In this case, property and future income are not important. Cash is king.

About compatibility of your visit, you should request the GCMS notes to see what they mean by this. Apply for GCMS notes ASAP because they might take more than 60 days to arrive.

Good luck!

FYI - requirement for bank balance is $12K tuition + $10K living expenses minimum. You would want to show a few extra thousand for travel expenses. So around $25K total.

My brother is my guarantor.

I heard that you need to show all this amount when you don't have a guarantor ?

You decide to have the guarantor because you want to avoid having all that in the bank account.

Even so, I had :

- 18USD in my bank account
- 8k in my investment account
- 4k in company share
- 6k in another bank account

If we take only the case in bank accounts, that's 24k USD and that's more than 30k CAD. So still don't understand.

And the guarantor have a good income to support me there.

Is your brother also the guarantor for your sister? If your brother makes 125k/yr he should have more than 20k in other savings and assets.

1. Your guarantor earns 125K but only has 20K?

Yes.

1 - He started. this job 14 month ago
2 - and as I explained, he had more than 40k in assets. And that was send with documentation. The list I displayed was just an overview of what I know.
3 - Is that relevant the ratio between your income and your saving. Specially knowing that someone can just use is income for the proof of support. I have one friend who did that. You need saving when You don't have support. He show his saving just to make sure that everything goes smoothly.
4- Yes, He is also the guarantor for my sister.

The issue is that both you and your sister applied. IMO your brother's profile is strong enough to act as a guarantor for 1 person but not two. He doesn't have enough liquid funds to support two individuals per IRCC expectations. The fact you both applied at the same time also weakens ties to your home country. Your sister lucked out and had her application processed first.

The reason for your refusal is also not funds. Point 2 is a general reason for refusal that can mean program doesn't advance education or employment to justify costs. Order GCMS notes.
