Dear Friends,

I have received this email from CIO, it is strange and I could not understand why? In january I have applied for Wife sponsor and everything went ok. I was not able to stay in Canada because I was diagnosed with tumor in liver and I returned back to home country for medication, at that time I did not have Medical Card since I moved recently to Canada. In September, I emailed them to check the status of my application and they informed me that they sent an email in March 2019 to pay for biometric fees (actually I did not receive this email). In October 2019, I paid the biometric fees and later they sent me this strange email:

Date: October 29, 2019

You can’t sponsor someone if you’re a permanent resident living outside of Canada. I think this is your case.

Please advise me ...
As a PR, you were required to remain in Canada throughout the sponsorship process. IRCC is aware that you are no longer in Canada and they are giving you an opportunity to show you are in fact living in Canada. As you are not, expect your app to be refused.

Based on your previous posts you knew you were supposed to remain in Canada to sponsor your spouse. Hopefully this wasn’t your first landing and did not update IRCC of your change in medical status.
