stolen PR Card and need to travel soon!

I am a Canadian citizen, my wife is permanent resident and currently live in Canada,
Her PR card was stolen recently and we were planning to travel to Jordan in 2 weeks,
I know we could obtain travel documents at the visa office or at the embassy while overseas so she can come back to Canada, but noone is able to tell us how long such a document could take,
Is it 10 days or 10 month...

Any help or ideas would be apreciated...

She wouldn't need a valid PR card or travel document if she is returning to Canada via private car from the US.

But I'm sure there are commercial flights from the US to Jordan directly or indirectly without a Canadian airport stopover!

My husband and I lost our PR cards in 2010 in Dubai! Went to the embassy and got a travel document and returned to Canada.
At the time we used to live in Dubai so when we re-applied, we provided all the documents and evidence that we had to return to Dubai as soon as possible and we got to pick up our new cards exactly in 2 weeks. But I have to say that from day 10 onward, we started calling the call center and on the 14th day they told us that the cards have been dispatched and if we are in a rush we could go pick it up from so and so office.
Bottom line, explain what the situation is and they'll cooperate.

i like the USA idea, she has a visitors visa so it should not be an issue going to the USA, but
but won`t they ask questions why she is landing in the usa then taking the car to canada?

i have a similar problem, i landed march 7th and i need to travel in April, please see encl. ans i got from cic
1. you cannot courier the pr card out of Canada
2. you cannot enter from usa, if you are visiting any other country
3. apply for travel document..

if any one has any other option, please do let me know.

1. There is no law prohibiting the mailing/couriering of PR cards outside Canada, it is done all the time.

Can you explain what do you mean by private car? it should be your own or it can be a rent car as well ?

Means not a commercial vehicle, bus, train, etc. Your own car, a rental car, or if you are riding with a friend or family, this is all private.

I have concerns about your no2 point?
are you sure about that? we will be comming back from Jordan to canada through the usa, then by Car to Canada...
