aw2011 and quince, do you even have an officer yet?
Hi Eloh,
I shall find out when the notes are here next month. It'll be a different officer than the one in Buffalo looking at the file whenever we get one. It's like having the whole thing done twice!

The MP's office will not help. Notes I guess are a good idea but still won't expedite processing. Yes, medicals can be extended BUT the VO has to do it, we can't. Police clearance, as I understand it, is good from the date it is submitted, not the three months. Otherwise, I need to re-do that too.

In my last gcms notes, the deadline by which they have to finish processing my file was November 2012, since that's the day when Buffalo received my file after sponsor approval. So according to them, they're by their deadlines. But then I see people approved after me sooner and it drives me crazy!

ha! Yes! People who applied in January and February have landed. I feel like I would've been ahead if we had just waited and applied then.

You should give this to your MP and let them remind Ottawa people!
I pulled it out from another topic. It was supplied by OhCanadiana:

Even if the officers had other cases in progress, they would need to respect the receipt date. Per OP-1:

"For assessment purposes, visa offices receiving a transferred file must respect the original date
on which the application was received as the “lock-in” date. For processing purposes, all
processing steps for the files transferred to an office, including the scheduling of interviews,
should be the same as for all other applications received in the office on the date corresponding to
the “lock-in” date of the received file. This means that an application that is received in Paris in
July 2002 and transferred to New Delhi in March 2003, would enter the New Delhi queue as of
July 2002."

that is great if they stick to it. But so far, I see people applying months after me and landing. I don't understand that at all.

I know this is all very frustrating but how can you guys complain, You knew this would be a long process but you havn't even reached the 15 month mark yet? 12 months for buff/ ottawa (supposed to be following that) and 3 months for sponsorship so thats 15 months. These people who are landing are they from the buffalo/ottawa VO's? I know people from ND and other places where the processing time is much much faster but thats cus people in other parts of the world actually work and not like north American where there is a holiday every couple of weeks and then take 2 days to catch back up... yes I am saying north American people are lazy LOL now AW I would be calling complaining writing who ever as you have reached the end of the expected timeline... I am just starting the year long wait now but the way I look at it unless I go do the work myself there isn't anything I can do but wait.... GL Everyone! it will happen.....

Creampop. When my application was submitted, the wait time for sponsorship was 67 days. I waited for 90 and contacted CIC, who made us wait another 30 days for a reply and they could not even locate our file at the time. January, he was immediately approved and the person on the phone said they were starting to process me. At the time Buffalo was processing in 11 months. It didn't show up until March. Six months after it was received. Two weeks later I got notice that our interview was waived and thought it was near the end. It has been another six months and I have received no word at all. COntacted the MP who said the file was transferred to Ottawa July 7 but no officer yet. Medicals expire in two days. Meanwhile, I see my husband every four months as he is 2000 miles away. We have been together four years. We have lost parents, celebrated holidays alone, and survived thinking our time was just about up.

Please let me know when you are beyond crying. This is not complaining. I do sincerely hope your time is much quicker. I would not wish this on anyone.

Buffalo was a very busy VO anyways, so I'm not surprised that Ottawa is taking so much time to look at our files because they probably have tons of apps waiting for their turn.
Lucky those people who have been transferred to other VOs, as they get processed a lot faster!

My supposedly deadline is next week(that's one year since Buffalo AOR). Medical expired last May. Hoping to see something from the notes next month.
I totally understand ELOH. We do run of out patience sometimes. We have to spend tons of extra money so my spouse can live close to me across the border. We consider ourselves lucky as we can see each other quite often. Hang in there ELOH!

You're right. Only if we would have been transferred to LA or another US office, it would have been different. Buffalo was holding onto our interview till they cancelled it beginning of June 2011(less than 2 weeks before it's supposed to happen). If they would have transferred our file in March 2011, it would have been done for us already. But I think the staff/officers there never knew the actual date of its closure. Everything seemed was done last minute & unprepared. It just shows how disorganized this government is!

I'm sorry ELOH, but how do you figure I'm crying? I didn't mean to piss you off or to sound like I don't understand what your going thru because all of us here have already went thru or are going thru it now. the times for processing are only estimates it doesn't mean it can't go shorter or longer.... My point was its a long process that you should have known when starting it, it was not going to be easy nothing in life ever is, of course there are the lucky ones who just speed thru it. I to have missed holidays, birthdays etc...I have been with my now husband for 13 years, we have 2 children (9 & 7) so I know what it is like to be apart as I have been away from him and at times my children. I was fortunate enough to only live 600 miles away and could drive up every weekend to visit (which cost and arm and a leg) now I am here on a visitor visa till December where I have to file for an extension. I understand the time and money but this is what we chose because we loved each other and wanted to be together. Life got in the way many times and is why we didn't do this before.

I did not figure you were crying. But I am almost past that point. I am not pissed. I only mean to say that you do not know my life. waiting is relative. Yes, I knew it would be a wait. I do love my husband. I just ask that you do not judge. I have seen so much incompetence and chaos within this system. Meanwhile, there are countless people whose lives are literally on hold and at the mercy of a certain few. This is not complaining. This is an urgency to live. To go home and have a normal dinner with the man I have waited so long to be with. TO wake up with him without counting down the days until one of us gets on a plane for another four months. Normal.

I didn't mean to seem as if I were judging you... and I know the being separated and crying all to well. I only meant all we can do is wait, getting upset won't do anything but stress us out more. I am praying that my application is done with-in 15 months but as I say "if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all" I figured it will be longer... you are so close to the end don't let them break you now!
