Hi All,

Appreciate someone's help on a related question. I submitted my Permanent Residence application to CIC in Mar 2016. After submission, I’ve come to know that the validity of the Confirmation of Permanent Residence that CIC issues to an applicant, expires one year after the medical results for the applicant were received by CIC. I, along with my family got our medical examination done in Sep 2015 as we planned to apply then. We couldn’t apply due to incomplete documentation at that point. We applied in Mar 2016. Being unaware of the fact that the COPR validity expires one year after CIC receives the medical results, I submitted the same Sep 2015 medical results with my application. Now if my application processing takes beyond Sep 2016 and my medical results expire, I understand that CIC will ask me to get the medical tests redone. I’m more concerned about the scenario if CIC issues a COPR to me after the usual 4-6 month processing time i.e. around Sep 2016, I may not have enough time to plan my travel as the COPR will expire in Sep or Oct 2016.
Thus, I seek your advice on how to handle this situation. Please guide me on what should I do to mitigate this risk. Given the amount of effort and time it takes from an applicant’s side to furnish a PR application, it is extremely critical for me that I take proactive action in case I see a risk of rejection. So your advice will be highly appreciated in this case.
Hi Tripone

I am in similar situation, Can you please let me know what happened in your case? did they give you extra time or asked to go for another medical exam etc. You help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

1. You'll have to apply for immigration again. No extensions.

2. The day you come to activate your PR.

3. Just a simple recent bank statement that shows to funds equivalent in Canadian dollars. No age or cover letters required.
If was not able to enter Canada within the validity date, do I need to send the documents (CoPR and passports with visas back to the Canadian immigration office to cancel the documents?

Since I am from india will an Indian banks statement be valid?
Hi!
I have two questions
First, how much money in cash is advisable to take along and second did the account statement worked in your case or was the immigration officer asking to show liquid money?

Hi everyone,

Me and my wife are residents of Dubai, UAE.....
I have received a request letter on my profile to send our passports to the High Commission of Canada in Singapore, preferably using a CVAC, which in my case was VFS Global in Dubai, I have approached them with the passports and other required documents and they mentioned they will send to Embassy of Canada in Abu Dhabi, not in Singapore. Is this normal?

I'm also not sure of the next steps, as my passport needs a visa to enter Canada, I believe that a visa will be stamped on my passport but not sure when will I get the PR card, especially that I'm not in Canada for now.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Yes, all the applicants based in UAE give their passports to Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The passport will have a stamp but your gate to enter canada will be your COPR. As for the PR card, you will only get than after 1 month or so once you land and that will be sent to a local canadian address.

You can give a valid Canadian address of either a trusted friend or a relative.
Once you land you can leave Canada but to re-enter you need a PR card or a PR transit document. You can re-enter with a valid CoPR only if you're traveling in a private vehicle.
Dear all:

Could anyone please advise me on can I obtain a PR transit document? I will complete the landing process next Month on April 16,2018. After 2 days of landing in Canada, I need to make a trip to the US for 2 weeks and then re-enter Canada. Please advise. Any help provided will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Rakhee.

You would have to apply for this document once you get to the States. Contact the VAC (visa application centre) in the States for processing times. Depending on their processing times it could be risky and you might get stuck in the US without a passport.

Hi - I have received a letter from IRCC on 28/3 to submit our passports for issuance of our CoPR. They have also mentioned that our visas our valid only until May 29 (the rushed date could be because our medicals expire by then). So basically once I get the CoPR and land in Canada ,I intend to return back to Dubai ,where I am currently based. So the next time I travel will I need to have my PR card in hand to travel to Canada?
Please advise.TIA

Good morning everyone.

I have 2 queries for which I want to seek clarity.

  1. Place of Birth in the COPR document of my 2 months baby is blank. Other than this all other details in my baby's document are perfectly fine. Will this affect the entry of my son in Canada? Do I need to ask the Visa authorities to issue my baby a new COPR document (adding Place of Birth)?
  2. The date of expiry of our One time PR Visa is 31st July. We our flying to Canada on 12th July. My Wife and son intend to come back to India after a month on 10th Aug. If we don't get our PR cards by then will my wife and son face issues as the Visa is valid only until 31st July? I am really worried as I have already booked all the flights and after booking this second thought came in my mind.
Looking forward for your response on these 2 queries.

Thanking you in advance.
