Hello, I am a Canadian in Canada sponsoring my American husband. (No dependants). We submitted online on February 5, 2022, no AOR yet.

I'm following the tracker spreadsheet and comparing our application with others who submitted in February 2022. However I'm also curious to know how our application timeline compares to others similar to ours (outland, online, US, no dependants), regardless of submission time.

Is anyone aware of data or a thread on this topic? If not I would love to hear from others with a similar application, and how it's been going.

Thanks in advance!

Additional note: I've thought about going through the tracker and looking at each US outland online application manually, but wanted to check if someone has already compiled this somewhere before I start. :)

I'm not sure this is compiled anywhere in a specific thread, although I'd love to see other people's timelines!

Even thought my info is in my signature, I'll post here too with more detailed info:

Nov 18/21 Applied Online Outland
Feb 22/22 AOR
Mar 10/22 Biometrics Request
Mar 10/22 linked to GCKey - Background check and eligibility shows "in progress"
Mar 11/22 Sponsor Approval
Mar 11/22 Moved to VO (I wrote my MP a couple weeks ago and found out it was sent to Ottawa)
Mar 14/22 Medical Request
Mar 15/22 Bio done and passed
Mar 18/22 Ghost update on New Tracker (NT)
Mar 23/22 Ghost update on NT
Mar 24/22 Medical exam
Mar 24/22 Eligibility changed to "in progress" on NT
Mar 25/22 Xrays came back as 'normal' from Medical exam
Mar 28/22 Ghost update on NT
Mar 31/22 Medical shows as PASSED on GCKey
April 1/22 Medical shows as PASSED on NT
April 12/22 Found out from MP about VO and that criminality has passed
April 19/22 Ghost update on NT
April 20/22 Ghost update on NT
April 21/22 Ghost update on NT

That's where we are so far. Our fingers are crossed that we'll hear soon. All of the other Ottawa files that applied in Nov seem to have Pre-arrival / PPR / COPR already, so... hopefully soon.

Thanks for this! Fingers crossed for a reply soon for you. Also great to hear your MP was so responsive. I'm hoping mine will be the same if it comes down to me needing to contact them. Trying to be patient for now, I know I'm in the early stages and shouldn't worry yet, but when there's so much uncertainty it helps so much to hear from others in a similar boat about what we might expect!

It took me 96 days to get AOR, so hang in there! And definitely keep checking back in the forums and spreadsheets. It helps to see where things are for sure.

My husband is also American and we have no dependents. He is a Dec 4, 2021 applicant and it has been radio silence since we submitted our outland online app and received the confirmation. No AOR, no nothing.

I'm so sorry to hear you're still waiting, SLCtoYEG. Did you try contacting your MP? They're not all great, but mine has been very helpful through this process. You can at least get them to check to see if your application is in process?

I have contacted him twice. First time his office informed me that my application was received but unopened, second time I was told I was asking too soon and to wait.

Ahhh that's a shame. I read someone post in another place that you don't have to contact only your MP, you just need to get AN MP to contact IRCC. So maybe contact your nearest MP to your own? No harm in trying, anyway. Also, Sean Fraser (Minister of Immigration) is an MP himself. Maybe write a few offices and explain your situation?

An MP usually won’t help people who aren’t their constituent because just helping their constituent is a lot of work and helping their own constituents is their job. MPs are really only able to help once your application is out of normal processing time frame and they have minimal influence. At the moment they have been directed not to contact IRCC unless it is about Ukraine or Afghanistan. Contacting Sean Fraser won’t have any impact especially since you are within normal processing. I am sure Sean Fraser’s office gets thousands of letters/emails a day and many repeated requests so most don’t get any results. Going through your own MP is likely to provide much better results. If you have not received AOR from a US application in 5-6 months then you should contact your MP and see if they are able to follow-up. You are only at the 2.5 month mark since you submitted your application so well within normal processing times. You will likely get AOR within the next month if not 2 months. Processing for outland sponsorship has been quite fast after many delays due to Covid. You will still likely get approval within 8+ months. Sure it is not what you want to hear but your best action is just being patient. Applying for something like GCMS is pointless because it is taking 2-3 months.

Agreed, For me it will be 5 months next week so I will attempt to contact my MP again and see what he is able to do - likely nothing. My issue is not the time it takes, it is the lack of transparency in this initial process as there are hundreds of people who applied after I did and already have their AORs. It seems to be affecting online apps the most (about 90% of delayed AORs are online) and there is no reason, no explanation, no logic as to the cherry-picking selection process to have your app chosen for the initial review and AOR.

As I said - it was something I read in another post, that they'd contacted a few different MPs as theirs wasn't helping and found one who would. Perhaps your MP won't do anything within normally processing times, but that's not the case with all of them. My MP here in Halifax (with a very large riding) has been incredibly helpful throughout this entire process and has contacted and received answers from IRCC several times for me so far in the 5 months since I've applied, including a couple weeks ago (I wasn't inundating them, just a few specific questions I couldn't find answers to online). And as they said above - they applied early December, not February. Coming up on 5 months without an AOR.

Just catching up with this thread - so sorry to hear SLCtoYEG, I hope your MP is more helpful this time. It definitely sounds fair to me to be contacting your MP at the 5-month mark, especially when there's so much data showing other AORs received from around the same time. The lack of transparency is terrible.
