Hello all,

I'm wondering if it's OK to use staples or paper-clip to keep documents together, or must all pages be separate?

Thanks,

Shom

Paperclips, yes. Staples, no.

I used staples. I've read on here you shouldn't but nowhere in the instructions did I read that. Oh well.

what if you want to organize all the different event pictures in a separate envelope for each event... will they care if its like that?

You can arrange them any way you want, as long as they are not in a container such as an album or picture sleeves.

I did exactly that. Had no problems :)

Do you think they would get annoyed if we carefully cataloged the pictures glued to paper inside of sleeves and sent it to them in a binder? We were trying to make it as easy for them to look at as possible and ensure that nothing would get lost in the process.

Don't put them in a binder. They want them loose. I put mine in an envelope and had them separated by event.

I used paper clips and removed all the staples my husband used. Staples are temping because it keeps documents neat and together but I had a feeling we shouldn't use them. I also taped my pictures to paper so I could comment on each picture and some that my husband included were in photo sleeves.. whoops. Hopefully it's not a problem.

I used staples for alot of it...im sure they get alot of staples as its such a common thing to do.
I know they say to avoid it...but who's been penalized for it in reality?

I used both paper clips for category documents, like my wife's forms, my forms, relationship evidence.
I used staples for the transcripts from Yahoo Mssenger or QQ International, stapling our conversation of that same day, or for some other evidence.
The photos were loose in their envelope as I took them from the photoshop, I only have written on their back the event, persons in the photo and date.

I looked at it this way...

You want to make it as easy as possible for the IO to go through your stuff and not piss them off. If they are happy, chances are that it will make them look at your application more positively (even if this is only on the subconscious level).

I was give a file to review a few weeks ago at work and it was stapled to hell. I had to pull stuff apart and that really irritated me. As a result, I can honestly say that it took longer than it should have for me to finish the work (because I put the file aside several times to work on something else). I also provided minimum commentary because I wasn't happy with how the information had been presented to me. Oh - and one of the staples ended up scratching my hand. I was not a happy camper and didn't go out of my way to get things done quickly because the person who gave the file to me hadn't gone out of their way to make it easy for me.

Do you want your immigration application to be treated like my file from work? Probably not. So avoid staples.

I totally agree.

What I ended up doing was putting the documents in clear plastic sleeves that open from the side. On the front, I put a sticker (printed off my computer) showing the contents. No staples or any other binding needed. It's all in order, very neat and easy to look through. We did that for the forms and also our proof of relationship stuff. All very organized...but very simple and straightforward. No need for a ton of sticky notes attached to the forms...for me that would be more confusing...

Like the saying goes...'Keep it simple, stupid!"
