Hi all - made a large blunder on my application and typed the wrong year in the date and my application was returned. My supporting documentation has a hole through the upper left corner. Aside from completing a new form and residence calculator my question is:

Am I ok to submit my original documents that were supporting (was signed / dated by a notary).

I know that the documents have to be within 90 days of being dated and submitted / received by cic but I fear additional costs to get the reprints signed / dated.

Can anyone let me know if I'm ok o submit these supporting documents?

Many thanks!

You must have received a letter stating what needs to be done. However, please check the following link that has the complete details:

Hi - yes I did receive a letter but it's unclear to me whether or not I can use the documents I already sent. The documents in question are validation of my i.d, education. I wonder if I need to reprint said documents and have them validated again by a notary when I submit my application. I will still have time to send off my application via courier and have it received by cic. By my reckoning I will have 3 weeks in which for them to receive the package before it is past 90 days as my documents were verified January 20th.

in cic application guide, it does not state to get the photocopies notarized. Why do you want to notarize them?

Also if you are still in doubt call cic call centre at 1-888-242-2100 or check the link i posted before for more details.

The link says the following:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/cit/admin/general/accept.asp

Staledated applications

The kit, forms, documents and IPRMS receipt are returned to the applicant with a letter.
The letter indicates applications dated more than 90 days cannot be accepted into processing and instructs the applicant to complete a new application and to check the website for current acceptable form version and requirements, if they choose to resubmit an application.

In this case, just download latest application form, fill new online residence calculator form and attach new photocopies and originals (wherever applicable) and resend them with today's date

The only things that I see in the application guide is to send as original are the following:

1. Online residence calculator

2. You have included original translation and an affidavit by the translator for any documents that are not in English or French.

3. Original form IMM 5401

Notarized for validity that they were certified copies of originals.

ID? You simply make a copy of photo ID, such as driver's licence and health card. There is no need to have the copies notarized. Perhaps you are getting confused with certificates sent in as part of the Proof of Canadian Citizenship (Citizenship Certificate) process, which do have to be certified. Simply follow the instructions in the Application for Citizenship Guide. Since you have already had your documents notarized, just send them back in as is. You don't have to have them redone.
