Hi all,

Just wondering if the 75 day processing time includes weekends? Or is it only weekdays?

Thanks,

FS

Thanks.

The thing I don't understand is how will CIC be able to finish stage 1 within 75 days if they are still working on applications received Jan 18?

Another member of this forum told me that if the initial review is good, it might not take the posted 75 days. In other words, if the application is strong, they will fast track it...is this how it works?

Even the posted 19 months out of the Hong Kong VO...it might only take a few months depending on how good the application is...correct? I know the 80% / 20% rule...but I am wondering if there are cases where the VO issues the visa in less than 3 months.

Thanks,

FS

The assessment of a sponsor for an Outland application is a straightforward process that only actually takes about 2-3 days, normally. So, by the time those 75 days are gone, they will have evaluated everyone who applied before you, more or less, so don't worry too much about them getting to your application around the time specified, they usually do.

As for Hong Kong, yes, they are capable of completing an application within a few months of receipt. If it's a strong, straightforward application, the applicant has no record, has always resided in the city they are currently and has a clear background, it can be done in a few months. I don't know about Hong Kong issuing a visa in less than 3 months, I do know it is done quite a lot in New Delhi. Hong Kong's 20% average is 7 months, so it is statistically possible for applications to be completed in 3 months there, yes.

It is 83 days now. They updated the processing times although some cannot see the update on their browser. But often in five work days they get through 7-10 days worth of applications. We don't know what happened but there was a long standstill. Computer problems, huge number of applications - who knows. They actually went back a day from Jan 18 to Jan 17. But someone from Jan 25 got approved. Same day someone from Jan 13. So I think it depends on the officer and the application. Someone who didn't get sponsorship until way later than everyone else had a problem with their app and CIC requested some forms from them.

Some people are getting through the VO in lightning speed. Vienna. Phillipines maybe or India? I can't remember. Mexico says 12 months but in reality it is only 6 months.

There is no fast track. For the most part the processing time is quite accurate. Just in the last month it has been a mess. But previously quite accurate give or take a couple of days.

Did they forget some applications or something? Because with the 75 days, it said Jan 18th... GRRR. Come on CIC-M! Get with it!

I think they are trying to avoid the flood of calls. I hope all the calls don't make the process slower. Different people answering the phone right?

The very second status changed from received to in process....they asked for passports and want to send out the visas.
It was received 4 months ago...status changed exactly at 4 months.

I doubt that a higher volume of calls will result in slower processing times. The folks answering the phone are probably not the same ones who are working on applications. From what I understand, the people who review the applications are not simply call attendants answering the phone.

My application was received on April 13. So, I should hear something from CIC by July 4. Then a month until the application reaches the Hong Kong VO August 4. I plan to leave for Canada by the end of February 2013, so that gives the Hong Kong VO 6 months to process my wife's visa...hopefully my case is strong enough to warrant a fast processing time (I'm pretty sure it is!)...

Anyway, good luck to all and hope we can all have faster processing times!

Actually it takes about 10-14 days for files to be sent to the visa offices. They go by diplomatic courier from Ottawa, they are not sent via regular mail. My husband was approved May 9th, and Kingston received our file on May 19th and created my records on May 25th, according to our GCMS notes.
