SPP VISA REJECTED- DOUGLAS

Hi. My visa application for douglas colleges was rejected today.

I had applied under spp for post graduate diploma in sales in douglas college..

Background:
Bsc Microbiology(59.9%)
MBA Marketing(8.25/10 cgpa)
Work exp- axis bank for 6 months and then icici lombard as unit sales manager to till date..

IELTS score- 7 bands

i cant understand why the visa got rejected.
Reason they have given is - Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of the following : past study, academic scores, language ability.
Past study was mba- is it not relevant with sales now?? i thought its in smiliar stream
Academic scores- 8.25 cgpa... Is it less????
Language ability- i got 7 bands.. how much do i need then???????

Please help guys. should i change my college or my course?

Its just my opinion. Your graduation in Bsc Microbiology might have been a concern for the VO.

If I was in the VO's place, I would have questioned why a Science graduate wants to do a PGD in Sales??

I get it.. but my last education was mba and more over i have been in sales for 2.5 years. so wat do i do next? i cant apply again in spp. should i apply in different college? or same college different course? is college reputation causing a hinderance? shd i try some univ?

It doesn't make much sense to take a post graduate diploma after a masters (even if the masters was completed several years ago). A post graduate diploma is a big step down / backwards from a masters. If you really want to study in Canada then I would recommend you look into taking another masters.

Go for a masters degree..
U wudnt do a diploma in ur home country after the MBA now.. wud u ?

Thats wat feels fishy for the VO..
Go for a full fledged 2 years masters.. same stream as work ex and MBA..

SOP - why u got into MBA after a Bsc..
how a masters in canada will complement the MBA done in india..
(shortcomings of a course here etc.)

my consultants told me that if i apply for two years masters course then chances for visa ok are less as they would feel that i would not return back from canada after the study. wat do u guys suggest

I completely disagree with your consultant. A post graduate diploma says that you are not a serious student and are just looking for a way to get to Canada. A masters says that you're a serious student.

Keep in mind that consultants are sometimes compensated by colleges for recruting students. So I wouldn't believe anything a consultant says.

all your scores are good to go....but according to me PGD in sales < MBA Markeing!! Its downgrading your education. Marketing already covers sales and moreover you already have a suitable job in sales...how would a diploma in sales help you anyway after that?!? Choose something better than that such as another MBA in finance or an accounting diploma and stating that in SOP that why you want to switch field from marketing to finance or accounting and why you cant do a similar course here in India.

thanks twenty one.. So i have two options now:
1. Diploma in financial planning in same douglas college. As in this case i would save time of fee refund and again fee deposit in new college.
2. I can try of Thompson river university.. Now they have post grad diploma in finance / international marketing..

firstly shd i choose 1 or 2 (would they prefer a university over a college)? and if 2nd which course can they allow.

as far as i know.... regarding your first option...its a financial planning diploma, related to shares,securities, and investing money( i would forecast very few jobs in this sector in canada, just my 2 cents)...do it if you plan to do CFA in the future...but CFA is a very tough designation to achieve. regarding your second option...either you choose finance or international marketing from TRU... I would choose international marketing(i know i said finance or accounting first but i think the VO may think you are switching your education too frequently..from microbiology to mba in marketing than finance diploma..getting my point?)...and link international marketing to your present situation in a strong worded SOP. this is just my opinion.

like scylla has mentioned above u should try for masters or doctoral (if availabe) course any PG diploma is going to cause trouble......either it will be a mismatch to ur past education or mismatch to ur level of education. finance is not ur past education since MBA was in marketing and if u go for PGD in marketing its down grade from ur MBA....

Can you tell me that you got rejection stamping on passport or just received rejection email with no stamping on passport?

i have finalised my research for next application..

1. strategic relationship marketing- 1 yr pg diploma - george brown college

2. strategic management- 1 yr pg diploma- centennial college

these are the two pg diplomas option available.

next i have masters- global business in royal roads

My consultant suggests me pg diploma in the above two. they say that i already have a masters, doing another masters in global business would not add weight to my profile.

My background is 2 yrs- insurance sales and .5 yrs relationship manager- bank.
so seeing the profile they are suggesting me above two diplomas. :
What do u guys suggest.. final words.
