Hello,
I've been googling to try and find out, and came across this forum so I thought I would ask here.

I've started filling in forms and have also been looking on the CIC site, but can't find the answer so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Am I doing this all the wrong way round? According to CIC, processing times are about 8 months for spousal visa (right?) I have a job interview tomorrow, if I get this, would I be expecting them to wait 8 months before I could go over there and start working while my application is processed? If my company offer me a job, are they likely to be able to any thing for me in regards to getting over there? The job is not specialist (it's pre-sales for an IT firm) so is not on any of the "lists". Do I just have to say, thank you, accept the offer and then sort out my Spousal Application and say I will let them know when I will get there?

Also, I am confused about Sponsor / Co-signer bits. I understand that my wife is my sponsor, but it has a bit for Co-signer (obviously), am I reading right that this bit is irrelevant to me / us. Can this be be used by someone like her parents to add to the application and prove we have further support within Canada?

Thanks

I'm really not sure what you mean by that first paragraph. What 8 months are you referring to? Is there a specific visa office that you are applying through that you could tell us?

If you mean that you have found a job in Canada, and your employer is willing to help you obtain a work permit but that you'd also like to apply for spousal sponsorship, then you can do both. One process does not affect the other. You can get a work permit, get a job in Canada, and still have a spousal sponsorship application done at the visa office responsible for persons of your nationality.

Spousal sponsorships do not require/allow for a co-signor. Your in-laws may offer letters/affidavits in support of your relationship and your efforts to settle in Canada, but no co-signor is needed for your wife to sponsor you.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I meant 8 months according to the CIC website for spousal applications to be processed via London after the sponsor approval as we are both here at present.
Thank you for clarifying, I was not aware I could go through both routes as it were. That is really good news.
