Hello everyone! I am a new user here and I hope that some of you can offer me some insight into sponsoring my spouse.

I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is in Sweden (he's not a Swedish citizen, but he is a permanent resident). I sent in the sponsorship application with all the necessary documents (medicals, police certificates, etc.) to the CPC in Mississauga and I was approved as a sponsor and the application was sent to London, England in December 2008. London started processing the application in the beginning of January 2009. At the end of March (March 26) my husband had an interview. Since his interview until today we have not heard anything. The status of our application is still "in process." It has been almost 4 months since his interview!

As well, my husband done his medicals in September 2008, what happens if we don't hear anything by then?

Has anyone else had an application that was sent to London, England, and if so, how long did it take until it was finalized?

We were so happy when my husband received word that he has an interview. We thought the case was coming to an end and within a month after the interview we thought that he was going to get his Visa. But there is nothing. I continue to have hope and faith, but sometimes . . . I just don't want to say it . . . I really don't want to say this, but sometimes I lose hope, but the application has taken so long now.

I need some encouragement and insight. Please help!

Thank you!

Hi Marlena!

No, I haven't ordered CAIPS notes. I don't know where to order them from.

My husband called me right after he had his interview. He told me that the man that interviewed him approved the application and stamped it. He told my husband that the application will be sent back to London to be finalized and then they'll send a letter to my husband requesting for his passport. According to what my husband tells me, I think he passed the interview. I don't know what the hold up could possibly be?

1. Search this forum for information on CAIPS notes and how to order them
2. Go bug your MP to bug immigration about what's going on

Hi SADGirl,

You dont have to worry at all if the IO officer approved the application and listen to me what i am going to say that may give you a happy burst in ur life. When i did my interview in London Office same thing happend to me and IO said he has approved the application now the security check needs to be done and nearly took 5 months ahead of interview date to finalise my application.

Dont lose ur hope and be positive you will be hearing some good news soon.

Regards,

Nabs

Thank you Nabs for your encouragement. You've given me some hope that this may soon be over. However, I really want my husband's application to be finalized before his medicals are a year old. We just don't want anymore delays in the process. My husband done his medicals in the beginning of September 2008, so we're running short on time here.

But 5 months to do background checks? They already have all the police clearances, why does it have to take such a long time to do background checks?

"Go bug your MP to bug immigration about what's going on"

Wouldn't doing that make it worse for you with Immigration Officials? I have heard that MP interference does not sit well with CIC and could harm the application.

What about talking with the person that my husband had his interview with, would that help out his application?

Hi,

I think you should ask your MP to find out the current status of your application and it wouldnt really have any affect on your application. I have done it so many times and then at least we knew what is going on with our case.

You should get your MP involved into this trust me.

Dont worry its going to be over soon and once its done u wouldnt even think about these nerve wrcking days.

regards,

Nabs
