Hey all,

See I am moving to Canada next week, I got my CoPR. The thing is I intend to marry like in the beginning of 2020. I would like to bring my wife with me to Canada when I fly back. Is there any way, that's possible?
Can I bring her via a tourist visa? Like in the start and when I get there can I apply for sponsorship or work permit?
I am totally confused. Please someone give me advice on this.

Thank you

Getting a tourist visa under those circumstances is usually very difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. It will depend on your wife's profile - travel history, finances, and so on. The biggest one is reasons to return to her home country. Obviously IRCC knows that the odds of her returning are very low, so you have to be able to prove that she will return. Most people cannot do this and get denied.

The most common route is to get married and then apply for spousal sponsorship. This takes roughly a year. During that year you can visit her for a couple of weeks, but otherwise you have to be separated.

Agree with 21Goose. I have read very few got VISA TRV be4 marriage those were only with high profile JOB, properties . 1 was a PHd study permit after PhD in Canada even after outland application was submitted, she got TRV. I thnk trying won't hurt but will be counted as "PREV. Attempts" as per GCMS notes I read there is column.

I don't want TRV before marriage, well my fiance is Doctor in Pharmacy, she is working also. But I think I have to take chance in bringing her sooner than later. Like I am planning to take a leave and come down from where I work and in the mean time getting married (it's complicated in India, don't ask me why lol), what if, she could travel with me back and once I get there, I will apply for the dependant visa sponsorship? So when I travel back , can I get a visa for her? Any visa?

You can apply, but your chances of getting it remain very small. It's actually better if she applies for a TRV before getting married. After you get married her chances drop a lot.

hello there me and my girl friend are living for 15 months together in same house and she recieved her pr last week only she haven’t declared ke as common law because her pnp ferderal file was under Noc D and also I applied my own pnp but got rejected but she done everything smoothly landing process. Actually we are getting married after two months? Is there any problem because she haven’t declared me as common law ? Also we didn’t have any proof to prove common law

She committed misrepresentation when she said she wasn't common-law when she really was. Now when she tries to sponsor you this will come back - IRCC will ask for proof of your relationship, and it may cause issues for her PR if they ask why she lied on her form.

You should talk to a lawyer.

None of that matters. If you were living together for more than a year when she applied, it would be misrepresentation.

However, if you had NOT been living together for a year at the time she applied, you'll be fine.

So - at the time she submitted her application, how long had you been living together?

And when she got CoPR? Were you living together for one year at the time she got her CoPR?
