Were you able to access ECAS soon after SA or after receiving AOR from ADVO?

Hi Asim

I believe my situation is much like yours. I am working in Kuwait while my wife (Canadian Citizen) is living with me as a stay-home spouse. I am concerned about the cancellation of gulf residency. From the letter sent to you from CIC, it appears that they want your sponsor's residency to be cancelled but from your answer above, it seems like you are going to cancel you residency as well? Did they explicitly asked you as a principal applicant to cancel your residency?

Thanks

hi you can add me to the excel .

application for sponsorship made march 14.
approved as sponsor April 9
we received requests for correspondence twice between April and October 2013.
ecas says we started processing your application September 29, 2013.
havent heard from them since November.
really really hoping to hear from them soon.
they have my husbands medicals (which will now expire in March 2014 (1 year from when he did them last)
so our 12 month mark is only 30 days or so away.

they had told me this.

Answers to your questions can be found below:

3) The Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website currently states that our processing times is 26 months however, this information no longer reflects our current processing standard. We aim to finalize applications in this category within 6-12 months from the date the application was received by CPC-Mississauga. However, you may wish to note that processing times may be longer depending on the complexity of the case and whether or not we require an interview or further verification.

Please note that towards the end of your spouse's application, you, the Canadian sponsor must demonstrate that you will reside in Canada when your spouse becomes a permanent resident. In this case you will be asked to provide documents such as, but not limited to, cancellation of your Gulf residence visa, resignation from your employment (if employed), proof that your resignation has been accepted, etc.

Please take this into consideration when submitting a sponsorship/permanent residence application.

We hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Dear Madam,

This is in response to your recent email enquiry.

While the processing times on the CIC website states that we are currently processing spousal sponsorships within 24 months, please note that this does not reflect our current processing standards. We are finalizing applications within 6-12 months from the date the sponsorship application is submitted at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga.

However, if there is a need for an interview or further investigation, processing times may be longer.

We trust that this information will be of assistance.

i have mailed them again asking the same thing, and i will hope fully hear from them in the next 2 weeks.
will let you know what they say
my one year is over soon.....just hoping i will hear back soon

just a note they will not reply to you regarding your application status until the standard processing time is over.

thats why i have asked what is the current processing time. (not what is listed on the cic website)

If they don't reply until the standard processing time is over, how did they reply to you? And the date the email was sent reads 12 August 2012. I am a bit confused!

Hi
1) they will not respond to you regarding what the status of your application is before the standard processing time,
so if i had asked them "hi can you tell me whats going on with my application"
they would have never replied
2) my question is asking them, "what is the current processing time for all spousal applications", this is not the same as asking "whats happening with my application"
3) I had mailed them in 2012 - so that I could get a real idea of how long it takes before i applied.
then i applied in early 2013
then i asked them again in summer 2013
4) the reason i ask them what the current processing times are, so that i know when the time is over and when i can actually ask them about my application status (if they say....standard time for spousal is 12 months, then i know after march i can email them and ask, "what is going on with my application")
5) sometimes they reply quickly and sometimes they take a month....depends on work load/staff/stikes/holidays/etc

Thanks CanadianinDubai for clarifying that.Well I really hope they stick to their word and process it within 6 months to 1 year. Hope they write to you soon so we all know what to expect as well.

I have updated your details in the sheet so you may take a look and let me know if I am missing anything.

Not just to cancel the residency of the spouse but yours as well and they want to see end of service credited to you account and Resignation letter signed . :)

Thanks for posting that letter. It’s a big relief for my self because my wife was just asked to submit proof or evidence that I currently reside in Canada and will be residing here after she becomes a permanent resident. I submitted my pay slips, bills, tax filings ect as affidavit.

It has been 4 months since we submitted the application and everything went smoothly so far.

Hi there,

Did you receive the request for additional documents along with AOR from ADVO? Can you confirm which date you received it so I may update the sheet?

Thanks
