thank you so much pari...
can you please tell me almost how many wedding pics and other pics you sent ?
in my letter, they ask wedding pics and 20 another causal pics
we also dated for 7 yearas, and took so many trips for study,so have all evidence...
and please also tell me how many pages of call history and viber history you sent?
because i have more than 300 pages for call history for 1 year only, so confused whether they accept this much pages or not?
and if possible can you sent me question-answer by email on aminpayal @ yahoo.in, i understand that's you personal things and its completely ok, if you not send me, but please answer above questions,i am under so much pressure ....
Again thanx a lot pari
We weren't given any limit on the number of pictures we could send. It just said Wedding and Casual pics. We sent 85 pictures which includes 2/3 pictures from each year, one picture from each trip (We put in the ones that had some kind of major attraction they would realize its from a trip...like a trip to Niagara falls, CN tower in Toronto), since we got married in Canada we only put 3 pictures from wedding but around 10 or so from Reception that took place in India, a couple from Mehendi ceremony and Engagement pics.

For call/email history, we took couple of emails (normally spaced by 5/6 months) for each year, same for chat messages (luckily google chats were saved) and one chat/whatsapp history for each month since I returned to Canada after our reception (as they specifically asked how we communicated after I moved to Canada after ceremonies). Just select some chats, they do not need to see everything, just see an established relationship! We did not have call history before 2011 so we mentioned it in the questionnaire that as we talked using calling cards we do not have call history but chat and emails are attached.

Hope this helps!

Hi mili,

I am in the same boat, I mentioned in my invitation letter as well my husband mentioned in his that its extremely important for him to be here with me as i get through the crucial last two years of my PhD.

I also have the same scholarship but we still did show ~$16,000 in our account (combined). For PR file, they ask for around $14,000 to be shown in the bank account, which is avg money required for two people's living for one year. We should little bit more than that. Plus got letter from department's graduate chair about my funding and the work I do. Make sure you put that as well!

PS: We applied in May and my husband has already received his Medical Request.

Hello all,

My situation is also somewhat similar. I got married last year and applied for TRV for my wife but it got rejected twice. I am a phd student in Canada and my wife is currently employed in India. I am planning to apply for her open work permit. I can show my personal funds of around $18k cad, funding letter and pay stubs. At her part I can show employment letter although her bank balance is low around $600 as she has recently joined the job. Please suggest what docs should I attach in her application. Pari can you give me your email id so that I can ask question to you directly.

Hey guys,

My husband just received the email of approval from CHC-New Delhi (he will get his passport today from VFS).
Here is our timeline:

Applied (Paper based): 12th May 2014
Additional Documents Requested (Relationship Proofs): 29th May 2014
Additional Documents sent: 2nd June 2014
Medical Request: 3rd June 2014
Medical Done: 7th June 2014
Visa Approval Email: 19th June 2014

Please note: This was our second application for SOWP, we applied online 1st time in December 2013.

Hope this gives an idea of current avg timeline (though it looks like the timeframe of applications being processed is really case based).

All the best to all those who are waiting!

Thanks,
pari
Hi Pari,

Thanks for providing the details. It really helps.

I am working in Canada since last 2 months. I need to apply open work permit for my wife. Could you please let me know the documents that you attached with your paper based application. Here are some of them that I know of :

1. Marriage Certificate
2. My Work Permit

I am assuming you would have filled in IMM1295E ( Application for Work Permit made outside of Canada). There are lot of sections that require employer details. I am not sure what we need to fill in.

I am very new to this process and hence have a lot of basic questions. Please help.

Thanks,

Hi Apne,

Thanks for sharing the information. Did you attach any document to show assets in home country. While applying online does it allow to attach any number of extra documents. I have heard about a lot of rejections with online submission and hence a bit skeptical.

HI,

I applied using the following documents:

From me (i.e. from Canada):

Letter from my University
Letter from my Supervisor/Department Chair
Banks Statments
Personal Invitation Letter (Notarized)
My passport copy, study permit
My tax returns

From husband (i.e. india):

All bank account statements (joint/personal)
His employment letter
Personal letter
Financial documents (Tax returns, CA report that states all the properties, assets etc)
Education documents (degrees/marksheets)
Marriage Certificate
His parents' letter saying their property will be inherited by him.

And all the forms, its basically everything asked in the document checklist (+few documents from me)!

Plus, if you have to fill in every question on the form with as much detail as possible.

Hoep this helps.

Cheers,
pari

Hello all,

I am currently applying online on behalf of my wife (I set up a cic account for her and basically doing everything for her as she is not familiar with the process), I am working in Canada as a NOC A professional and my wife is currently in China, since it's online application I have to include most of the important documents in the letter of explanation. I just wrote up a draft for that letter, and I would really appreciate if you guys could kindly critique my letter. I believe it could be useful for others who also plan to apply online. So here is my letter of explanation:

"
Dear Visa Officer,

I, XXXXX, am applying for an open work permit as the spouse of YYYYY, who is currently working full time as a software engineer (NOC skill level A, code 2173) in Canada. The purpose of this letter is to enclose all the supporting documents that I deemed to be necessary for this application in addition to the required documents I have already attached, the enclosed documents include:

1) Letter of support written and signed by my husband
2) My husband's and my marriage certificates and their translated version.
3) My husband's job offer, pay stub and bank account statements
4) My husband's passport
5) My husband's post graduate work permit
6) My Chinese bank account statements
7) Notarized certificates of the properties and assets under my name in China
8 ) Letter of reference from my current employer

Should you have any questions or require any additional documents please don't hesitate to contact me or my husband.

Sincerely,
XXXXX
Contact Info

"

Then for each document I plan to put some comments along with the copy, for example, under our marriage certificates I would explain that we have not held our marriage ceremony yet since it is planned for next year so we are unable to provide wedding photos; under my wife's property certificates I would further comment how these certificates show her strong tie to our home country etc..

Please let me know what you guys think about this letter as well as the documents I plan to submit. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
