Hi Amit,

You can apply your own and may not need a representative so ignore the form for the same.
Now if you aare planning to apply from inside India you only have to fill the IMM1295 Form.

You do need to get a letter of employment just because it can show your strong ties to home country. It all depends on your convenience. If you want you can apply online from Canada but again your application will get processed in India only as India is your country of residence.

For online or paper based?? You have to think wisely consider the processing times for both and then apply. My husband personally applied paper based. He lives close to Chandigarh but due to long processing time he went to New Delhi and submitted his application there. So consider these factors if you do care about the processing times. Other than that you can apply however you want. However the reason we choose paper based was it gives you more flexibility to attach as many supporting documents you want. Whereas for online you have some limitations.

You can message me here on the forum or post your inquiries here. There are a lot more experienced people like @FLK and others, all will try their best to help you out!! Hope it helps
Thanks Nav for helping me in understanding the process

I am just gathering the required documents.

Hoping i will be able to file my application soon!!!!

I would suggest you to create account on CIC and link your paper application online. That will give you a proper status of your application.

Dear FKL,
Recently I have received my kids visitor visa's. I am going to bring them soon in September. Would I need to book one way ticket or return for my kids as I don't have any specific plan when could I return back to india from Canada. I am planning to book one way tickets from India. What would you suggest. By the way I am on spouse work permit and working as full time here in canada and which is good through feb 2017 and likely be extended there after. I will wait for your reply soon.

Thanks,
kalpan

Assuming your kids visitor visa is with visitor record i.e. multiple entry and valid for as long as your WP (and not a regular visit visa for 6 months), you should take one way ticket.

Note that you would have done medicals for this kind of TRV for kids and stated intended duration of stay temporary - longer than six months.

Hi FKL,
Thanks for your quick response. Yes, its a multiple entry visa and issued until my WP expires and I declared stay as more than 6 months while filling their applications and done the medicals in India itself. I will book one way ticket only. Thanks for your response. In case if they ask me to show two way tickets to my kids, what should I do? Any Idea to explain the airport authority or immigration in India while boarding. Last time it was so painful, they weren't allowed my 3 years kids to boarding. Finally I argued them and came to Canada with my younger kid.

Thanks,
kalpan

hi Friends,

I work in Canada and my wife is also in Canada on visitor Visa.
According to my knowledge, my wife is eligible to apply for '(SOWP) Spouse Open Work Permit inside Canada'.
Although she is a visitor for now, but I have work permit here. Therefore she is eligible.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Along with this one more query. Which one is the best way to apply for SOWP:
(1) Paper Based inside Canada
(2) Apply Online inside Canada

Hi FKL,
For paper based application outside Canada, we can still pay the fee online and print the receipt? is it correct? Please need your advise on this.

Thanks

Hi Fadii, I doubt that. As far as I remember, these used to be exclusive i.e. ONLY online payment via credit card for online app and cash / cheque based payment for paper applications.

But this might vary from embassy to embassy and might have changed since several visa offices established and started using VACs since.

But I am sure this should be listed among mode of payments on the local VO website for a paper based app.
