Hello Folks,

I would like to share the news that my SOWP has been approved today. I would like to know what documents need to be submitted along with the Original passport?

As per my understanding, below are the documents -

1) Original Passport
2) Passport Request Letter
3) Applicable Fees - How would I know what the applicable fees are?

Also, does my spouse have to submit her standard photographs for stamping?

Hi
Can you share your profile when you applied ?
A little overview, I live in Canada and currently working here. My job falls under NOC A 1111. My spouse lives in India.

Below is the timeline -
1) Type of Application - SOWP
2) Submission - Online
3) Submission Date - April 29, 2016
3) Passport Request - May 24, 2016

Please note, I have not submitted any bank information for funds. However, I did submit the following -
1) My current job offer letter - This includes salary information, job duties and NOC code details
2) Last three months Pay Stubs
3) My Post Graduate Work permit
4) Spouse Medicals upfront
5) Marriage Certificate
6) Photographs - As per CIC specified dimensions

Again, thanks a ton flk for clearing my mind of the banking information. Seems like they dont always require bank statements.

And your medical?
For Spouse work permit, why would I have to submit my medical?

I am already in Canada. I submitted medical only for my Spouse, who is in India.

Wow that is quite an impressive timeline. Congrats on the approval.

Regarding your question about applicable fees, my wife submitted her Passport with the request letter just today in Hyderabad VFS office (we got our passport request on May 18th). The applicable fees are basically the fees that VFS will charge for their services which you will be charged when you go to submit your passport. My wife was charged INR 980.

Thank you ashpur88.

My wife also lives in Hyderabad. The VFS office is in the Begumpet right beside my house.

If you do not mind can you please share inbox me your number so that I can talk to you in detail about this procedure?

Hello All,

A friend want to apply for his Post Graduate Work permit. (1) Is it okay to apply for his wife's open work permit who happens to live outside of Canada at the same time he is applying for his own Post Graduate Work permit. (2) Can you make a list of what will be needed in order for him to receive his Post Graduate Work permit? (3) Can you make a list of what will be needed in order for his wife to receive her open work permit?

Also can you please send me a copy of your own application/application letter that you used in your application (you can change personal info like name and contact address on it).

I will be very glad if you can do this for me. Thanks.

For Post graduation Work permit:
You need to complete at least 12 months course in Canada. If you friend has a degree already he/she can apply for a post grad work permit. All he needs is his copy of transcripts and his graduation letter from college stating his course, graduation date and things like that.

Then conditions for SOWP are:
You can only apply for SOWP if you have a NOC A, O or B job in hand. There isn't any such time frame in regards to the job before you can apply for SOWP, but people usually wait for a month or more to collect the recent pay stubs and then apply for the same.

If your friend has a job which qualifies the NOC code then he can certainly apply the SOWP once he receives his PGWP. I am not sure if you can apply for both all together, as spouse doesn't reside in same country. Also in the application you have to include the Spouse's PGWP work permit number and a photo copy. Without having that information on hand, I personally don't think that one can apply for SOWP.

You can apply for SOWP together with PGWP application (provided the applicant is eligible i.e. has a skilled job) even if the spouse is in another country. The application for SOWP may or may not take longer to process since it could be processed by the local visa office.

And to the original poster - sorry. We do try to help out here, but it is important that the applicant himself does due diligence. No one helping others here has the time or should take the effort of finding copies of their old forms, remove all personal info and send them over to you.

Why don't you try filling out the forms yourself and ask questions here about any fields you are not certain of? I believe that is more than a fair share of helping out. Good luck
