Not sure if there are other circumstances that see you needing to use a lawyer but if there's not some kind of hurdle/issue then the sponsorship application is relatively straight forward to navigate and submit yourself. Worth considering.

Really? Everyone told us to get a lawyer, then again most people I know who has done this has been through variable circumstances. Would save me a lot of money too. So that sounds better actually.
If you have a "straight forward" case then a lawyer is definitely not needed.
