Hi Crisetphil,if you got married in the Philippines,Manila VO and even the Canadian government acknowledges any marriage that is Philippine NSO registered. Oo,he did a good thing by declaring you as his wife and his status as married.crisetphil said:actually i used already his family name from my passport to nbi..i sent him 3 copies of our marriage certified from nso here aux philippines..so he have enough copies for my identity forms and his requirement as a sponsor.. so i will tell him later when we talk.. we married here aux philippines last yr..
actually he applied already to their registrar that he declare me as his wife even i am not yet there.. even his tax return i was there already as his wife.
If you were married here in Canada, you will need to wait at least 4-8 weeks till your provincial statistic office register your marriage.
I never had much trouble using my husband's name.....nung bagong kasal kami (dito na kasi kami kinasal sa Canada) lahat ng immigration docs ko is nasa maiden name ko...PP,PR card as I initially came here under a work permit. Pero other Canadian docs ko (health card,SIN and even tax forms) are in my married name. Nung na-citizen ako,dun ko na lang synchronized lahat sa married name ko.
